All I remembered of this guy was from the old Fantastic Four cartoon (the original one from the 60's that used to air on Boomerang back in the day), and that he was one of those older style comic villains that were really just camp/silly. So naturally I wasn't really excited when I pulled him......then I looked at his dial and my opinion instantly shifted. This guy is a beast! I will definitely be giving him a try.
Absolutely fantastic in sealed. Can be very fun in constructed as well with his special resurecttion power. The 11 attack, running shot dual target all damage equals knockback on click one (which is for fantastic just as much for positioning as it is for knockback damage) is just amazing, considering his 18 defense invulnerability as well. Add in Indomnitable and he's just nasty.
He has some solid value thanks to Indomitable and the spare target... it can be fun to keep pushing your enemies off and it's rather difficult to base him with any consistency unless you have immunity (Charge, CR). The changes to Force Blast also help his mid-dial continue the knockback game. If there is a weakness here, his damage output seems to trail off and on clicks 3 and 4 he's left chipping away at any real opposition with reducers.
The best plays for Blastaar involve watching your opponent's position and aiming to squeeze extra damage out of a knockback collision. You have to think ahead about where your opponent will be - ideally, out of range to retaliate!

This is probably my favorite piece, he was in the first booster I ever bought and has always performed well every time he hits the field. Should always have at least one figure <76pts so that you can use the prison break.
Recently fielded him with GSX Pyro for some nastiness. Pyro goes kamikaze and uses his pyromantic sharpshooting flame to whittle down the heavy hitters, Blastaar takes a hit backing pyro up, then runs to a start location to bring Pyro back to burn the rest of the opposition down.
I guess I'm just a little unclear on the prison break power. Does that mean they come back at full health? In that case, forget support! Just don't let the oppenent score the points for that character again!
I would like a little bit of clarification on this as well.
