Using him I placed barriers around a character that was unable to move for the entire game until my New 52 Teen Titans decided to attack. Bunker is a very fun piece.
with regards to psionic constructs, do the barriers go away after he is defeated?
Think of Bunker's trait as a leash. So long as he's there, the leash is there, holding his terrain markers in place. If he goes, so does his leash, meaning that his markers are no longer permanent.

While this would be true for the typical barrier/smoke cloud user it is not the case for Bunker. His card specifically states that they are not removed until they are destroyed or until Bunker uses a power to place the same type of terrain marker again. Since losing the powers or even being knocked out are not listed in the exceptions on the card, they will remain on the map even after Bunker dies.

It is still a game effect, and is subject to the following rulebook passage:
Game effects remain a part of the game only as long as the character continues to possess the power or ability. If a power or ability is countered or lost, all game effects of that power or ability immediately end, but any actions already in progress are resolved normally.
Bunker + The Hand/League of Assassins ATA + Wild Cards + TK'er(s)
* Lyssa Drak works best as a second TK'er/Barrier.
* I would use an indom/willpower TK'er as primary.
* Terrax if you have the points/need big heavy hitter

Moonshark, you are correct to an extent, but one of the Golden Rules states that the character cards over-rule the rule book: << HEROCLIX “GOLDEN RULES” In general, game effects originating from rules on individual cards supersede the rules in this rule book (that’s part of the fun!). >> Terrain placed by Bunker remains on the board until Bunker uses the power again or the terrain is destroyed.
Amazing piece who can make any speedy opponent's day an absolute nightmare slog, and a beautiful addition to most any team. 5/5 stars.
Emphasis on BEAUTIFUL! I just got Bunker recently and he has to have one of the prettiest sculpts I've seen in a long time. The transparent purple boxing gloves just look phenomenal and you can even see his hands beneath them. They knocked it out of the ball park in the sculpting design of this guy!

Finall got to play him last night in a 300 modern no tactics game. He was so fun! Shaping the battlefield the way I wanted was wonderful. I was able to protect my Wondergirl when she was pushed, cut lines of fire and do a little damage. He made the JLA waste actions destoying his barriers which blunted their effectiveness to the point I almost beat it. I love this piece.
