I've always been rather fond of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse ever since the Age of Apocalypse storyline wayyy back in the day.
I would love to play them and decimate but it just doesn't happen. I have 500 pt Apocalypse, 400 pt Nemesis, Hulk, Wolverine and Caliban. I cannot figure out a good strategy to use for them that doesn't end in them getting blown away. I think most of the problem is that the 2 big guys are ALOT of pts and being able to play 4 of them together (like I want to) means I use 4 people in a 1200 pt game, none of which are immune to P/PB or EW. I tried them again the other night against a buddy who had 6 characters, one of which was his new Thanos (sweet: all of my healng abilities just died) who picked up the Octo Arms () and another being Terrax (how do you get around that guy???). I know this is not the greatest example, but it usually comes down to them dying at the hands of penetrating damage. any suggestions?
I was working on making this work for a game next month at one of my venues. I think the problem is that you are using the 500pt Apocalypse and the 400pt Nemesis on the same team. I just don't think it can work. You will always get out-actioned.
This is what I came up with for 950
GX049 Archangel 99 w/ 12 MMF001 Automatic Regeneration
GX052 Wolverine 99 w/ 12 MMF001 Automatic Regeneration
GX203 Famine 99
WKM-002 Apocalypse 199
GXG05 Nemesis 400 w/ 10 AWF007 Armor Piercing and IG with Soul Gem 15
ATA027 Horsemen of Apocalypse 1 X 5 = 5pts
Total 950pts
Basically you need Nemesis on the team just because of how much healing he can do and how he can handle swarms. The other characters are there to make sure Nemesis doesn't get taken out by the heavy hitters. All the feats and what not keep the other characters alive as best as I can. The 300pt Nemesis is also really good with his long range psychic blast. I don't own that one though so I decided to go with the original.
I hope you find something that works. They are a tough team to make work.
I honestly find that the Horsemen really work much better in a golden age setting. The Polaris figure from Mutant Mayhem improves the team substantially. Her TK makes all the difference.

interesting. I like it, but I decided this was too difficult without getting the cheaper pt Apocalypse and Nemesis (dammit, he's always Holocaust to me) so I traded them all off except for Apocalypse (still looking to move him) and Hulk (I think he's gonna stick around). wish I had seen this post sooner, but those con Horsemen are still kinda outta my price range with all the other stuff I'd rather collect. thanks for the advice though.
