Bystander Tokens - Questions About the Print-and-Play
I printed out all the bystander tokens from the print-and-play area today. I'm having fun cutting them out, laminating them (for durability), and I'm looking forward to using them in home and Golden Age games. I do have some questions, though, and a search here in the Realms wasn't very helpful.
1) One thing I did find through the search was that the green-ringed bystanders aren't "prime." There are the occasional gold-ringed bystanders such as "Thor, Frog of Thunder," too. What does the gold ring mean? How does that make those rare bystanders special?
2) Do bystanders have keywords? I'm leaning towards "no" since I wasn't able to find a listing for them but it would be nice to know.
3) If, in fact, bystanders do not have keywords, do they interfere with having a theme team or does the theme team ignore bystander tokens being used?

Other than a silver ring designating that the bystander is unique, I don't think any other colors affect them.

Inherently they do not have keywords but there might be a few that specifically do. I'm not sure though as I'm not familiar with ever piece.

Thank in advance.
As per the rule book, bystanders do not affect theme teams in any way and may not use theme PC.
They groaned, they stirred, they all uprose, Nor spake, nor moved their eyes; It had been strange, even in a dream, To have seen those dead men rise.

1. That's the color of old LE figures which was synonymous with being unique.
2. No they do not.
3. No they do not there is a specific rule in the rule book about this.

THEMED TEAMS
Themed teams are forces of HeroClixcharacters
in which all characters share at least one common
keyword among the keywords listed on their character
cards. Keywords are not case sensitive. Bystander
tokens can be included in your force although they
do not have keywords, but they are not considered
“characters” for the purpose of bonuses or counting
characters for qualifications described below.

Another question: The BRPD IndyClix tokens have a very different look. In addition to a black background, each has extra information on the right side: a symbol indicating the gender of the character, the word "move", and a number. The number and the word "move" seem to be unrelated since they don't face the same direction. Does anybody know/remember why these are on the tokens?

The BPRD bystanders could also be used as victim tokens in HorrorClix. The figures also came with HorrorClix cards and were compatible.
the originals were also much larger than the standard size of bystanders at the time.
Very interesting.

be sure to give lian harper the 1 point bystander extra special attention, she's worth the only point she costs.
Hmmm. I'm not sure what you mean. As far as I can tell, she's a free point towards my opponent's score. Granted, many if not most bystanders are free points for my opponent.

Lian Harper is great for Mastermind, activating Suicide Squad and tying up opposing figures (even HSS, possibly) because she only costs 1 point. Have 4 points left over? 4 Lians.
Every time she helps your team its only costing 1 point as opposed to 4, 8, 13 points for other Bystanders (or more for those pieces with 3-d figures).
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
I see your point but I'd rather spend 2 for Franklin Richards. He's not likely to hit anybody but you don't have to roll boxcars for him to do damage to anybody.

If you are attacking with Franklin Richards you are either way ahead and insulting your opponent or you are losing badly.
For those 2 same points I'd rather force you to hit this guy three times to get him to take damage:
(Attack) H.A.H.A.D.E.A.T.H.H.A.H.A.: The Joker can use Steal Energy. Whenever The Joker is healed using Steal Energy, if the attack roll was doubles, heal the Joker of 2 damage instead.
(Special) You Are All Fodder: The Joker can use Mastermind, but can only use it to deal damage to characters that have a point value of 50 or less.
(Damage) This is Where Your Soul Dies: The Joker can use Exploit Weakness and Probability Control.
Then make an attack roll with this guy:
Quote
mmB004 Franklin Richards
Team: No Affiliation
Range: 0
Points: 2
5
5
12
1
KO
KO

And realistically, with a 5 attack you are most likely going to need a crit hit anyways!
