I have Vision and Scarlet Witch. I start the game with them, and give each a hammer along the way.

They split.

Are the hammers lost?

Conversely, I start with them separated and they each have a hammer

They merge.

Do they retain the hammers?

The Merge will force you to choose one Hammer.

How did you give the Duo 2 Hammers before the Split? Are u referring to the BoS Rules for characters holding 2 Hammers once 4 are brought out? You said youre giving "each" of them a Hammer but its a Duo..

If the start as a duo and split you would choose who gets the hammer.
If they both have a hammer and try to merge and you team is not allowed to have 2 hammers per character then the merge is not allowed to happen.

Because you ARE allowed to have 2 Hammers for one character...but only under special rules of the BoS

So, when I merge to hammered up folks, and I choose one, what happens to the other one? Dropped?

If the Book of the Skulls is currently preventing a character from having more than one Hammer, you can't use Merge. See Maraud's post above.

If the Book of the Skulls is not currently preventing a character from having more than one Hammer, the duo gets them both.
