I agree. Phoenix and Colossus are definitely going to be problems. And I roll a 6 for Year Without. For once you don't have anyone. Let's see where we're at at the end of your next turn.

"What is she doing?" Spider-Girl asks.

"Draining our power...our strength..." Beetle says.

"Your life force," Phoenix corrects them, "To secure our victory." She immediately downs Cerise and Blink with a blast.

Being able to heal Jean there was the final nail in the coffin. I'm done! Good, good game. The events were fun and I think mostly balanced once we fixed the Year Without one. Enough Crazy 9s to keep things interesting and I don't think either one of us benefitted more than the other from that. You just had those last couple of monsters that I couldn't really crack. Even the last Repulsor Shield on Jean I think was crucial. Without that, I think this could still have been a win for me.

I think you could have taken Dark Phoenix. A lucky turn with Crazy 9s or Cutthroat and she's taken care of.

The randomness put each of us up in the game at various points.

One of our most funs games, imo.
