1) The dBs - This one got my toes tapping.
2) Daniel Zott - wow, a pretty little ditty that was pleasant to hear
3) Babe Ruth - Nice and bluesy
4) Don Dokken - \m/_ _\m/
5) Aqueduct - kinda good, the video makes me laugh for some reason
6) Laura Branigan - not too bad, just nothing great
7) Three Doors Down - ugh
8) Dolly Parton - I usually like her stuff, but this was hard to listen to.
Three Doors Down – I don’t know who the guitarist is in the band, but he always reminded me of Jerry Cantrell with his lead style, giving the band a sort of Alice in Chains-ish sound, but not as muddy and full. Still I like this song a lot better than the competition this round.
Aqueduct – Not my fave Aqueduct song, but far from my least fave. Moves nicely and keeps up a good tempo and makes me want to break out a CD of theirs.
Daniel Zott – Wow, leave it to the last song on the list to actually blow me away. I love the simple melody and his voive is a nice compliment to the spare sound of the guitar. The only thing I could have lived without is the Oooooohs and duh dih dahs. But overall it comes in third just above the DBs.
The DBs – Lawzy me, I remember these guys. Bright pop sound and while they didn’t sparkle as much as some of their contemporaries, they had good skills. I like this song, but it’s not stellar. Will see where it ends up after I finish listening to all.
Laura Branigan – Gloria part two. Nice riff at the beginning. Not much to like after that, but wait….nice little hook/chorus.
Babe Ruth - Never was a big fan of theirs and thought there were a lot better bands doing the same type of stuff. The rhythm held the song back from moving up any further. The guitar solo was okay and the vocals were good, but the composition left me feeling blah.
Don Dokken – Are you kidding me Don? Really? This is what you put out without the talents of George Lynch? Barely beats out Dolly. The song is horribly written and goes for clichéd variants of the skeletal remains of Dokken.
Dolly Parton - Dolly’s always hit or miss for me, this one was a miss.
2) Babe Ruth - my motivaation for this match. Always a big Babe Ruth fan.
3) Aqueduct
4) Three Doors Down
5) Dolly Parton
6) the dBs
7) Laura Branigan (RIP)
8) Don Dokken

Babe Ruth - something new for me and I like it. Quite a bit.
Don Dokken - One of those cases where I'm going to vote against type. I liked this one just fine and it distinguished itself as being more memorable than most of the rest of this list.
Daniel Zott - Nicely understated and pleasant. Not a great song, but a pretty darn good one.
The dBs - The horns are nice, this could be great but something holds it back. It doesn't quite get there. Can't quite put my finger on it.
Aqueduct - Solid, straightforward, good music.
Laura Branagan - Pretty generic 80s. I like 80s, but this didn't really stand out.
Three Doors Down - Another one that was decent but felt like it was just short of grabbing me.
No bad songs in this group, enjoyed hearing them all!
Babe Ruth: Super, am going to get this one!!
The dBs: Retro in a way, but still fresh and lots of fun
Don Dokken: Not a normal favorite genre, at least for the the last 30 years, but love some of the early Scorpion vibe that snuck in occasionally.
Daniel Zott: Sometimes you need to chill and listen to some simple, calming music. This was one of those times, nice song.
Aqueduct: The songs OK, not a worldbeater, but fine
Three Doors Down: Not a bad song, but not one I will remember next week.
Dolly Parton: Especially when you consider some of the truly great songs she has done, this one feels like a failure. Feels like its trying to tug the heartstrings, but it never really does. Not a bad song, but a mediocre song.
Laura Branigan: Made from a formula I was never crazy about. Not bad, but creatively boring.
