I have to say at first glance I was like wow, this iron man rocks! After looking at his dial longer, I'm starting to think not so much. Granted his trait is fantastic especially in the world of resource dials and hammers, but at what cost? 250 points?! A character at that point cost should first of all have a better starting defense value than a 17. At least in this day and age. Also as cool as the defense power is its only on his first clix and can easily be out witted. He's a nice new finesse iron man piece but at 250 points there are so many better 250 plus big guns to go with that have a lot more staying power. This iron man is too much offense and not enough defense. Just my opinion. Oops I'm a idiot! Darn it I need to learn to read more carefully his opening defense power can't be countered. Ok, that changes things a bit. I still think he's a bit over costed. But my bad on my first statement.
Yeah he is cool and a great Iron Man to add to my collection, but so far every game I've played he was the first to die. Kuurth who is 199 points whopped Iron Man's butt it's sad :( he is a nice figure for Home games, but tournaments he is worth to much :( to half my team points
Will definitely play Golden Age with him. Revert to that sweet sweet Secret Invasion Iron Man. 10av and 4dv w/Outwit just turned into 11av and 5dv w/Outwit. Mmm...a lot better of a mid dial than this one. I played a 300pt BR with him, Splitlip, the Uru Forge and one Mud Golem. 1st turn picked up the forge, chose +3 to range. I almost forgot how far 10 range was. Was wonderful.

I like that if he had Split from the Iron Man/Iron Patriot duo, then got hit onto his stop click, he can Merge with Rhodey again to set up IM/IP on their EE click. 4 damage all around!
(mind you, this is a home game scenario set up, so chill on the "can't do that" comments) I equipped this Iron Man with the Uru Forge, Auto Regeneration, Protected and had Splitlip accompany him. Why the feats? because when he does hit that Mighty Revert, I choose IM3 002 Iron Man Mark 42 as his replacement. Bam! Next turn I regenerate for free and enjoy the +1 to attack and damage while getting another +1 damage via Enhancement from Splitty and that Iron Man piece is indomitable,a sharpshooter, and is Protected from one big blast. Mighty Armor indeed.
Well, in the FI set, a ranged powerhouse is kind of a rarity. The main selling points of this guy are his anti-resource trait, his range superiority, and his revert. Sadly, his revert doesn't apply to any Iron Man figures from the movie set (save one) and that really hurts his options. Still, there are some solid ones that give him flexibility, but it makes me sad that the Mk XX takes a lot of combination potential from the Iron Men of that set. This guy's awesome though, he just keeps fighting until he reverts, or gets swarmed and goes down.

Are we sure about that revert? The revert that says "a character named Thing" is still valid for "The Thing" I wonder if the "Mk" at the end of Iron Man matters.
I assume you would be right, though I don't see the venues I play at really stopping me from using any of the Mk XX figures.
I think a good revert for this Iron Man would be the M10th Anniversary Iron Man since it's a cheaper point cost like the power specifies. Another good revert for Golden age games would be WoS Iron man or SI Iron Man.
Depending on the opposing force(s), it strikes me that some of the Iron Man figures from the Avengers Movie might be useful reverts for this guy. The 006 common figure would come in with the Avengers Initiative (stealth-busting) TA and an 11 attack and 4 damage, or a 10-av ranged attack as a free action after a move action for 7. The 019 rare comes in with one less click remaining, but has Hypersonic Speed, RCE to pair with his revert-boosted 10 attack/3 damage, and a useful variant on Super Strength (permanent defense boost for each successful object-using attack, close OR ranged). It's nice to have options.
