THUS effectively ensuring the character with the Infinity Watch ata picks up one of the gems on anything but a 1?

Why not? Infinity Watch ATA shouldn't affect Splitlip's trait at all.

The ATA would work in conjunction with Splitlip. Just can't assign it to him as he doesn't have the Infinity Watch keyword.

Thanks, but I'm aware of that. I meant if he was put on a team with for example Gamora or another with the keyword an the ata.
