I just played him the other day and was curious about assigning a hammer to him while adjacent to an object. It takes a power action to assign the object, would his ABSORBS ANYTHING trigger first before the hammer finishes attaching, or the other way around causing the hammer to be removed from the game?
The Book of the Skull
Equipping a Character - At the beginning of each of your turns, you may remove a Hammer from The Book of the Skull and place it in the square of a friendly character that is at least 5 squares from any starting area. Also, once per turn you may give a character a power action and remove a Hammer from The Book of the Skull and place it in a friendly character's square that is at least 5 squares from any starting area. Whenever a Hammer is placed in a character's square, that character may immediately use Quake as a free action. If the friendly character is given a power action to place that Hammer on its character card this turn, the roll automatically succeeds and the Hammer is considered to be "equipped" to that character and that character can use its abilities as listed on the Hammer's card. Unless specified otherwise, a character may only be equipped with one Hammer. If the friendly character does not place the relic on its card this turn, then for the remainder of the game, it is a relic as described on its card.
ABSORBS ANYTHING: When Absorbing Man is hit with an object or is given a power action when adjacent to a heavy or light object, place that object on his character card and remove any other objects that are on it. When Absorbing Man has a light object on his character card, modify his attack and damage values by +1. When Absorbing Man has a heavy object on his character card, modify his attack and damage values by +2.
Why would the hammer go away? I could be wrong, but aren't the hammers immobile objects, which would not be absorbed as a light or heavy?
I am not saying the hammer is absorbed, I mean if you pick up the hammer which is a power action, the hammer being a relic is an object that you place on Absorbing mans card. ABSORBS ANYTHING states "When Absorbing Man is hit with an object or is given a power action when adjacent to a heavy or light object, place that object on his character card and remove any other objects that are on it".
But my question is would the regular object be placed on the card first, allowing the hammer to attach without any problems or would the hammer attach first, and be discarded when the object is absorbed?

So I think the question is if a hammer is on a character card would it go away if hit by a heavy or light object??
I would say the hammer stays as it's a resource....but relics are objects I could see how one might rule that the hammer would go away

1. Give him a power action
2. Absorb the object
3. Equip the hammer
To absorb an object it just says you have to give them a power action and I would think that you be given the power action and then complete the action given from the power action. I could be wrong though.
I do not believe he would lose the first hammer during the action he picks it up, but the next time he uses charge while adjacent to an object or is hit by an object, he will lose his hammers then.

I agree with both these statements, I just wanted to double check.
Thank you
The hammer is not a heavy or light object. It is a relic, which is niether. If you absorb another object, the hammer is not removed, since the hammer was no put on the card by the power.

The point that they are making is that the effect as written makes no such distinctions.

It says to remove any other objects on the card. It makes no reference to the "weight" of the object. Additionally, there is nothing stipulating that the only ones removed are those put there by this effect.
Relics are objects.
When equipped or assigned, those objects are placed on the card.
As such, the wording of the power says that these would therefore be removed.
As I said above, though, I can pretty much guarantee that the effect is only meant to remove those placed there by the effect.
