So I'm guessing like many of you, a majority of my heroclix collection lies in sorted bags (or cases or drawers or whatever) in a large box in my office that usually is either in the closet or under the table. The only pieces that are out are just a very small handful usually consisting of pieces I recently traded for or aquired in boosters or pieces that I'm customizing or going to use in customizing but havn't cut up yet. I really want to come up with some sort of display which will probably consist of a lot of small shelves, but it got me wondering what other people do for display options. Does anyone display thier heroclix aside from a few on your desk? Anyone come up with some good dioramas or anything to put them in?
I helped my friend design a unit for his basement. He's a completionist and needed space to display thousands of pieces. After a lot of brainstorming, we decided the best thing t do was to buy some doorless kitchen cabinets from Home Depot. The cabinet infills were shelves on pull-out sliders, about 4" apart, and a 2" lip on the front where we made stickers to indicate what genre was on the shelf. I think the sleeves are made for canned goods, but they worked great for heroclix. Having the shelves slide out was a great way for him to store everything nicely, but still be able to easily retrieve pieces that were in the back.

I long ago ran out of room to have any sort of display case/shelf, so much to my wife's chagrin, I utilized a hide-able display. Plus, only the folks who truly appreciate heroclix or nerdiness get to see it
Unfortunately I took these pics about 5 sets ago, so space is again at a premium. My long term solution turned out to be not so much. But if they don't fit in there, I start selling stuff off, becuase that is all they space I will give to clix, except for the colossals like Spectre, the Galacti, etc, who reside on a shelf in the basement. Just didn't have the overhead clearance for the shelf to slide under my space limitation if those were in the drawer.
the storage space was already available when we moved in- just wasn't being utilized very much. The house's back addition was built on high quality concrete slab, with the floor level anywhere from 12 inches to 16 inches above the slab. Just a matter of making sure I knew how much clearance and how much width we could pack in there.
The drawer for the heroclix was easy- there is no weight to speak of on that one, so about 8 wheels along the bottom outer edges worked fine. You need enough wheels that at least a few are in contact at any one time due to the floor being sloped for drainage in the garage.
The other one was a ##### weight wise, but had consistent dimensions throughout its movement. No extra cuts needed to accommodate plumbing, ductwork, etc. It has approx. 30 full long boxes of comics in it! I had to put reinforcing ribs of 1x1 in the center and then added about 8 moving skid pads and a few roller bearing mounts along the bottom in order to distribute the weight enough that a normal guy could pull the drawers out. Then the force required was too great for the front board of the drawer, so I had to reinforce that. Even so, I need to use a rope and get damn good traction to pull it.
I have 8 bookcases full of these things plus some other areas they are on display thru my house but mostly in one bedroom. Yeah, I'm single so no wife saying no to all that space for gaming pieces.
Some shelves have just one team like the X-men or Avengers. Others are split in half for say X-Force & Excalibur/Exiles.
I have people with pretty much every team they belonged to when I have multiple versions of characters.
Only in recent years have some of my pieces gone into boxes.
Heck, one of my DC displays in the Monitor with a bunch of extra clix that don't fit elsewhere. I probably have at least 5 Superman & Batman figures in that display but it's still themeatic with the Monitor there.
That picture looks great! Nice way to display. You'll run into the space limitations sooner than you think, but one way to mitigate that is just rotate the ones you want to display. I used to do that for the first couple years I played.

thanks, In the end I am wanting to store all of them in very similar holders made out of cardboard. not as wow factor as the see though ones. but great to store show and keep the cards together. Will be perfect to fill a whole bookcase.
I got a few display case from AC Moore Crafts store. One is for Golf Balls the other is for Baseballs. The one for baseballs fits Peanut bases perfectly. I use these for some Chases and Con figures. I also have a bookshelf where I keep most of my figures in Plano boxes by the set. http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z..._28_44_Pro.jpg

It's too bad that they are not deep enough to fit the box with the figure. The box are is always awesome and being able to display it with the figure would be icing on the cake.
Plus it frees up the top of the shelving unit for other things you are interested in. Colossal or team base maybe?

My stuff is scattered. I have some golf ball display cases, some are riding the tv, the dvd case has some, and the bookshelf on the desk. They are just all over.
I use a book shelf with glass doors. On each shelf, I have an adjustable shelves like these http://iheartorganization.blogspot.c...your-life.html but they are made of plastic; they are hard to find but I believe either Menards or Lowe's has them now. Each row holds 2 figures deep and I some where between 15 to 20 long, so my book case holds at least over 500 figures.
What I really love about this method is I can easily access any figure I want to take to a tournament. And, since I can see them all, I kind of brainstorm possible teams with what I have.
