question about professor x and science police officers
I can't let you do this.. Professor x can use mind control and is not dealt unavoidable damage from it. Opposing characters within range must be given double power actions instead of power actions.
Tactical deployment. When an opposing character within 8 squares is given a free action. If that character has been given a non free action this turn after actions resolve deal that character 1 unavoidable damage.
My question is do you take that double power action or unavoidable damage if you running shot from say 10 squares away then end your movement within those 8 squares or if you started your action within those 8 squares and did running shot to 10 squares away from the target.
Also professor x power only works on power actions. So I can do a move actions then rest and then make an attack my next turn without taking double power actions. Am I correct.
If the running shot started in prof x's range then you would take two tokens. If the free action for running shot was within 8 squares of pd then two clicks if damage. If both requirements were met then two tokens and two clicks of damage.
Yes you can do a move action and take one token. Then do an attack action for one token. And not take damage from pd. If in range do your free actions before your power actions.
Ok. But what if the running shot started outside the 8 range and ended within the 8 range. Do you take two action tokens or one and do you take 1 unavoidable damage.
You determine the action type when the action is assigned.
If you are within Xavier's range, then all power actions become double-power actions. Doesn't matter if you move beyond that range during the action.
Conversely, if you are not within Xavier's range when you begin the power action, it doesn't matter if you move within that range. When you assigned the action in this case, it would have been a standard power action.
As far as the science police go, if you are within 8 squares when you assign the character a free action after they have taken a non-free action, then you take the click of damage.
The only time that being beyond the 8 squares that will help you there is being beyond 8 squares when you take the free action.

Professor X checks to see when you give a character a Power action and you are within range. So you would need to declare a Running Shot while within range of his ability to make it a Double Power Action.
With the Science Officer it is looking for when you give the Free Action. So you can start the Running Shot outside his abilities range, but if you give the Free Action inside the range his ability will activate.

So if you start the power action outside of xaviers range it's just a normal power action if you end in his range of 8. The science police power triggers inside of 8 even if the non free action started outside of the 8 range, but if you took the free action within 8. It doesn't trigger if you began the non free action inside the 8 squares but took the free action outside of the 8 squares. Is this correct? Thank you all for the help!!!
