Here is the scenario: i have Xavier with any resource and i carry with iron man 10th (125 pts.). When Xavier is hit with a character with any resource, use the mastermind and pass the damage to iron man, the trait kicks from the attacker or from Xavier?
ADAPTIVE ARMOR: When Iron Man would take damage from a character assigned a relic or resource, Iron Man ignores that damage and rolls a d6. On a result of 1-3, deal Iron Man 1 unavoidable damage. This ability can't be ignored.
Mastermind
When this character would be dealt damage, you may instead choose to have all the damage be dealt to a single adjacent friendly character with a point value less than this character’s. Any additional effects of the damage dealt (knock back, penetrating damage, etc.) are applied to the character taking the damage. Damage dealt by this power is not an attack.
I think it'd still work as the text only specifies damage from a character assigned a relic or resource. It doesn't say from an opponent figure nor does it say it has to be from an attack.
Actually, even if the opponent didn't have a resource and made an attack on Prof X who did have one and he then Masterminded the damage across, you could argue that the trait would kick in because Iron man is technically taking damage from Prof X who has the resource?
I seem to remember it being that transferred damage is treated as coming from the original source, not the character transferring it (if the attacker has the soul-gem and the damage is masterminded and KOs something, the attacker will heal 2).
So the damage will only be dealt by a character with a resource if the attacker had a resource, Prof's resource use is irrelevant.
