Maybe its just me, but I was expecting a little more from the piece that represents the Iron Man that was built to try and destroy the Phoenix. A single click of Impervious would've been nice.

I'm also perplexed (no pun intended) at starting with Invulnerability, but I feel it's a great piece overall. It's not only a Phoenix killer, but the bane of most powerhouse figures out there. I love the point cost, I feel it's just asking to take on anything bigger than it is.

I think its a great representation! In the story, the Phoenix Buster was built in practically NO time, wasn't tested, and only got 1 shot off... that is exactly what this piece is. Your Alpha Strike vs. Phoenix/Cosmic/Colossals.
175pts. lets you use it as a strong '1 hit wonder' with the right support (ie. Prob Control, Perplex, Enhance etc.) throw the 'buster out, let it drill the target with up to 8 penetrating damage, then follow through with the rest of your team.
Remember if you are fielding this piece - chances are your build total is upwards of 500pts - probably closer to 800-1000pts. - which allows you to include A LOT of other 'Primary Level' attackers/options to follow through with.
This is not supposed to be the 'silver bullet' to the a Phoenix team - just a serious and very real threat.

Even in a 300 point game this fig is gonna be scary.
Avengers, Armor, and Scientist keywords are easy to build around.

Wish his P/PB read 'Big Damn UniBeam' instead of 'Still Some Power Left.' Missed opportunity right there. His chest piece is seriously, larger than some sculpts out there!

I agree with SuperPrime. From what I recall, the Phoenixbuster flew out to take the first shot, did something to the Phoenix Force causing it to split in five, then came crashing back down. He's a massive threat that in higher points games can either distract an opponent from other figures as they try to neutralize him first, or stand by as friendlies fight and score decisive hits against the backbone of the opposing force.

I understand this was made to drop the big cost PF, or even the Resource, but I can't help but laugh at the idea of someone completely crushing the WatX 045 Phoenix with this.

Best LE from AvX. A great counter to most bricks in a 300 point build. More fragile than Dark Phoenix Ckye @ 300, but dealing just as much damage, while leaving enough breathing room for a themed team bonus.

I'd add AvX Scarlet Witch @ 100 pts and filler (Avengers), or Tony Stark (IIM) and D10th Blue Beetle/Ted Kord (Scientist).
