I agree with headache it is nice for Fed ships but if they had only ships from a second Faction or so.
Yep. I would really like a Raven and the Stargazer, but other factions need some support, too. It would also be nice to know what is in the blind packs before the tourny. I just hope it isn't a "ready to fly" 30 point ship and crew - I like to tweak things a bit, as many others here do, as well, I'm sure.

I'm actually in the other camp.
I'm really hoping it is a case where you get the ship and there is enough left over for one and ONLY one upgrade. Make all of the upgrades the same cost so you pull the ship, pick a single upgrade and play.
I've seen some players take waaaaaaaaay too long trying to figure out a ship configuration in Month 1 where we ran the "Buy 1 ship and include it in your fleet" suggested format. Heck, I'm still trying to get people to have their build sheet ready beforehand.
If there are numerous choices and ways to kit out the blind buy booster, I'll never get out of the shop in under 4 hours.
You do make a good point. I can see how having too many choices will slow people down, but I'm one that likes to have choices. But, I can usually decide pretty quickly, too. Only having a captain and one crew or whatever would be fine, and if you want to drop it in and play as is then more power to you. But I like it when things work together and I can tweak setups to maximize efficiency.
All that being said, I just want to know what the blind ships will be.

Just to chime in, I think that's part of the problem. Everyone wants to tweak setups to maximize efficiency to an extent, and the more choices people have, the longer they take to make them. That's ok when those choices are made at home the night before, but if they slow down the game, it can be a little annoying. When me and my friends get together to play, it can take around 30-60 minutes to start just because everyone has so many choices, and we all want to make good ones. I try to come up with builds ahead of time, but that doesn't always work out.
I do like getting more cards for my money and announcing the cards and ships ahead of time would let me plan in advance, but more choices means that more players in the venue are going to take every last minute making them.
Hmm, I wonder if build time will speed up once people know what the ships are. I don't know, but maybe once people know the ships and what upgrades they come with, they may well pre-determine what 30-point configuration they like for each of the brick ships.
On the second reading of the first month (First Contact) scenario description, I am suddenly speculating if the scenario will include the rules and stats for the Borg a Tactical Cube (preview of things to come). It sounds like it will be a three-way battle between two fleets and a Cube, probably with the Cube being randomly controlled, along the lines of the Scimitar in the Valdore's mission pack.
Speaking of which--has anyone else had problems with the new cardboard on the Captain tokens? They just don't fit right. My 'Thong, Equinox, Voyager, and ESPECIALLY Borg Cube all have damaged Captain tokens due to them not fitting properly. (One of the Borg tokens is pretty much ruined. :/ )

can't get the thought of Thugit's "Thong" not fitting right out of my head
