If Highfather supports a friendly character he grants them +1 to all combat stats. On the opposing turn if White Witch takes a power action to prevent stats being modified does that remove the buff or is it too late as it's already been applied?

Just been asked this by a player of an event I'm judging at the weekend. I'm pretty sure she removes the buff as the stats are checked for modifiers when they come into use (ie. defence when attacked) but I just wanted to get some clarification for peace of mind.

Your assumption is correct.

Modifiers are only applied when you actually need to use them. When White Witch uses her effect, opposing characters would not be able to have their values modified when their need would come up (such as when being attacked or attacking).
