Heh. That's what I get for making changes without rereading everything.

So, need to vent a little and this seemed like the right place....

A few weeks ago an online retailer got in a few starters, which, not surprisingly, were gone immediately. I managed to snag one, but they were processing some trade-in credit I had sent in, so long story short, after talking with them I was assured that my order had been reserved and once the credit cleared it would be sent.

I also ordered a few other things, one of which didn't come out until last week, so the order just came today. Opened it to find - no starter! Out of stock, we will reimburse you. And the worst part? My brother comes into town maybe two, three times a year and is coming in tomorrow. Was totally looking forward to trying this out with him....

The thing is, I have ordered from them (and sold with them) several times and have never had a problem. They're a great store. BUT... like I said, I talked to them directly over the phone and was assured it was reserved. Even have an e-mail they sent to that effect. Frustrating!

The package didn't arrive until after business hours, so I guess we'll see what happens when I talk to them tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's still there and just got missed somehow....

Ok, an update:

Talked to them today and while I won't be getting a starter imminently, it was more than resolved to my satisfaction. If anyone is curious who it was just shoot me a pm, they are a great place to do business with.

More curious of what they did to make up for the error.

I also wonder who exactly he did business with.

When they get more starters they are sending me one with free shipping. They have no idea when that will be, though. (Seems nobody does. )

I can live with that. It's disappointing, but they are clearly fed up with it as well. The whole distribution mess has got them over a barrel as well from what I can figure; they want to get info to all their preorder folks, but no one's telling them anything about when it will be here.
