He is a monster! Can dish out the pain all down his dial, then free regeneration plus 12 speed phasing make him hard to catch and put down. Hammertime indeed!
"Homer, on your way out, if you wanna kill somebody, it would help a lot."
Definition of redonculous :
1. (adj.) Excessively ridiculous; Head-smacking
2. (noun) Starro's regeneration power
Member of the Marauders in Exile!
Tiamat-buster! He's designed like an improved Icons Braniac. A long range and high DV give him breathing room from most threats. Only penetrating damage will be his undoing.
Played Ronan at full point value with the Drax Target exclusive. Drax was taken out (but stayed on a lot longer than I thought) but Ronan didn't even get halfway through his clicks before destroying the other team. And that was with having to deal with Banshee's trait.
He's a hell of a piece and vastly superior to the main set Ronan, no doubt about it, but there are PLENTY of other reasons to buy the starter- with the possible exception of Draxtista, whose starter dial is solid but not amazing when compared against the Target exclusive's dial which is an undercosted meat grinder, I actually prefer all of the starter dials to their main set counterparts, especially Rocket. The amount of stuff he brings to the table for 15 points LESS than the main set version is pretty redonk. The object tokens, which include the new Ultra Light and Ultra Heavy objects, and the terrain markers are of a very high quality, much better than any previous starter I've ever purchased(a list which, to be fair, doesn't include any of the other recent-ish movie starters- IM3, TDW, MoS, CAWS), and the new PAC is very nicely done(and perhaps most importantly, it's actually included as advertised on the package lol). In fact, I would say that overall, it's probably the best starter they've ever released(at least right up there with the SI and DKR ones) and that's in spite of a map that feels almost completely phoned in(IMO of course). /////

Totally agree. It's kind of funny- I was on the fence right up until the last possible moment about whether to order a full CTD or just go with a starter and fill in any residual wants with trades and/or singles from the secondary market. I ultimately chose to continue my policy of not purchasing any blind WK product(other than an occasional sealed event) that I've had in place since right after WATX. For a day or two after the main set Ronan's dial was spoiled and before the starter dials were posted here, I was like "Awwww, man. He's a beast. Looks like I backed the wrong pony. I bet the starter dial will be a watered-down budget version. *sigh* Oh well..." I was definitely kind of bummed about it. But boy, was I wrong about the starter version being inferior to the regular one; starter Ronan Pulse Waves that main set pretender right off the map and taunts him mercilessly with his uncounterable 20 ranged defense while doing so. Add in the fact that a full CTD from either a hobby shop or a Target won't actually net you the full roster of the titular Guardians and the decent but hardly memorable chases, neither of which is Thanos, who was considered by many folks to be a near-lock as a chase in the set, and both of whom have 2 other movie versions available and additional comic versions on the way, and being "wrong" in this case ended up feeling pretty darn good when it was all said and done :) ///// This rambling TL;DR post has been brought to you by: A fairly severe toochache; an unrelenting case of caffeine-induced insomnia; two 3 month old kittens that sporadically decide it's time to wrestle on the bed at random intervals throughout the night; and the letter G.

He really isn't a bad option for a meta 300 point tourney. He's likely going to get the first hit, and with his improved targeting literally nothing is safe if they aren't behind a wall. One hit to the highest AV piece of your opponents force and it could be over.
"Are you an alcoholic? or a problem drinker?" "yes."
I missed out on the GOTM starter sets when they came out last year. But I just managed to snag one that hit eBay, listed by a discount/liquidation seller for less than original retail because the package was a bit damaged. What a sweet starter set.
Anybody else found this figure to be a BEAST when he's got the Phoenix Force Resource Dial all to himself? That pairing is undefeated in like 10 home games. I'll probably be testing it out in OP play this weekend...
