ffdp101 Deadpool has a trait called "Always a Volunteer, Wade" which says: If Deadpool is further from your starting area than all other friendly characters, he can use Sidestep and Stealth.

Does he still get to use this ability if there are no other friendly characters? Like if they are all KO and he's the only one left, or if you play a game with just him on your team.

How I would rule it:

Technically he's both the closest and furthest friendly character, so as he qualifies for one, he would meet the criteria.

I agree with the trader.

If he is by himself - the power asks, "is he the furthest figure from your starting area?"

if Yes - he then gains the effects.

If no - he doesn't.

I'd answer "yes"

Thanks guys, I was thinking "yes" too, but just wanted to make sure. Sometimes I wish they would be just a tad more clear on these traits/powers.

I'd say no; the power says specifically:

Not, "is Deadpool the friendly character furthest from your starting area." It's specifically in relation to other pieces.

I agree w/ Trader and Tyro: if Wade were the last / only figure on his force, there would no other friendly figures further from the Deployment Zone than he. There are no others closer, either, but the SP does not check for that condition.

It is very confusing to me so that's why I turned to the realms for help lol.

The way I saw it originally was sort of like a politician running for an electoral office. If he or she has more votes than any other candidate, he/she gets the office. If there are no other candidates running against him/her, he/she will have more votes than any other candidate (even if it's only one vote) because there's nobody else to compete for the spot.

That's the same way I saw it with Deadpool. He's in the position of being furthest away from the starting line and there's nobody else to compete for that position, so he gets it. He's further away than the other friendly characters because there are no others competing for the position of being furthest away from the starting area. But I can see what Joe's saying too. We definitely need some clarification.

For it to work if he is the last character on his force it would need to say:

If if no friendly characters are further from your starting area than Deadpool, he can use Sidestep and Stealth.

As written he must be further than another friendly character.

It seems nitpicky, but the way it's worded I feel like there need to be at least 2 people.
