Yes it cripples the battery. The battery say it "must be assigned a power ring" but the only mention of force construction/beginning of the game is when you attach them. Whenever it is removed, the battery goes back to the wording of "must", taking out the battery for the game
Scratch that. Ruling from the rules team says that the ring is only required during force construction so you can still use the battery if the ring is taken by Lydea. However, if the ring is taken, you do lose your emotional spectrum trait for the game.
So if she takes the Uru forge, would she be able to choose any relic to put on her card? I know she can replace it when she gets it, but, I don't know how the whole 'part of your force only' works.

Again, as I posted above...

"Growing Darkness" can only remove items attached to a resource. Uru Forge is not an item that is attached to a resource so it cannot be affected at all.
@cainvoss: If I'm reading things correctly (page 4 of spider_ham's link there), she if fact cannot necessarily take them in the given scenario. If all the parts of the PF on the opponent's force are assigned to characters and none are attached to the base, they are then not considered attached to the resource which makes them invalid for taking via 'Growing Darkness'. If any are left on the base however, (i.e. not assigned to anyone specifically) they are fair game for capture/theft. Ham is absolutely correct though in respect to the fact that she must be on the force that goes second to take anything no matter what apparently.

Age of Butters is correct. PF assigns fragments "when placing characters" which happens before growing darkness triggers. She can only pick at what is left.
Ring Selection - At the beginning of your turn, you may choose a Ring, remove it from the Power Plant and place it on a friendly character's card. That character can use that Ring's effects as if it were a relic. When that character clears, return any Rings on its character card onto the Power Plant.
THE GROWING DARKNESS: At the beginning of the game for all friendly characters with this trait, you may remove one attached game element from an opponent's resource and, if it is a relic, assign it to a character with this trait. At the beginning of your turn, roll 2d6 for all friendly characters with this trait. If the result is lower than the sum total of all of these characters' click numbers, then modify all opposing characters' combat values by -1 until your next turn.
At the beginning of the game, does this mean a Ring is not considered a Relic when on the Power Plant? Meaning it doesn't go on Lydea Mallor's card, but instead is removed from the Resource and the game instead?
