In the past (I can't find the thread now), I posted a question about Team Bases and characters with multiple dials. As an example, I'll talk about the Blue Strike Force team base. That base can attach WXM #001 Wolverine or WXM #201 Wolverine. The answer I got in the prior thread was that I can attach Wolverine and bring both of his dials with me; when I use solo adventure with Wolverine, I can choose which Wolverine to use.
However, I want to know how this works with characters that have two different versions (identical sculpts) with different asset abilities. (The new LE Rogue and Psylocke). Do I have to choose which Rogue and Psylocke I am using at the beginning of the game? If not, do I choose which asset ability when the icon appears? At the beginning of the turn? Is the ruling still the same for the Wolverine example above?
I would venture a guess that you have to use the dial of the character whose asset you are using
But do I have to commit to using a certain Asset ability at the beginning of the game?
Also, IIRC, Psylocke and Rogue have their original asset abilities (Mind Control and Steal Energy, respectively) printed on the team character card. Do the new Psylocke and Rogue get to use their assets in addition to that one?
I picked up Rogue at my local event last night, and I am still at a loss as to how to use her with my team base. I would really appreciate some help as the Blue Team is one of my favorite figures and I would really like to play with it.
Do I have to choose whether I want my asset ability or her new one at the beginning of the game? Can I include both dials and choose when the asset icon comes up, or each turn when I want to use it? Can the new Rogue use both asset abilities, since her individual card and the team card list two different assets?
Also, how does the new Rogue's ability even work? It says: When a character goes on a Solo adventure from this team character, choose a standard power the team character can use. Rogue can use that power as long as this asset is displayed.
The team character card says: When asset icons appear, the team can use the asset abilities referenced by each of those icons so long as the corresponding team member is attached to the team. When the icon appears, you may choose any team member attached to the team and use the asset ability granted by that character's icon.
As I read it, the asset ability only does something when Rogue is on a Solo Adventure (otherwise she can't use powers). However, her asset ability doesn't work when Rogue is not attached. I am assuming the last sentence of Rogue's power is meant to override the rules on asset abilities such that Rogue's is active when she is not attached, and she then copies a power from the Team Base. I don't understand the significance of the first clause though - why does it matter that a character is on a Solo adventure? The power only works when Rogue is on a solo adventure anyway? Is it meant to refer to the solo adventuring character? (I.e. Wolverine and Rogue are both on Solo Adventure, Rogue can copy one of Wolverine's powers). This would make the most sense to me.
Edit: Another interpretation I have seen for this power is that it is supposed to allow the team character to use the power of the solo adventure character while Rogue is attached. This would make more sense in the context of asset abilities, but is less supported by the wording of the power. Is this correct?
Sorry for the wall of text, but I'm just very confused. I'm guessing the lack of answers is because the figure hasn't been officially previewed yet, but it's been released to stores and as prizes.
