Give this meglomaniac the wing symbol, stat! Hal's design is fair-- the Parallax entity is a better choice, overall-- but the lack of mobility really "grounds" this character.
I think it was printed somewhere that when a figure is shown to have a crystalin support it indicates flight. This not having flight might be an oversight.
I'm laughing at all these complaints about him not flying. Played him on a team with Boodikka and Arisia. They could both carry him for placement setup, Arisia was TKing where needed and both were just breaking walls on other turns. Pulsewave or a 9 range shot every turn. It was disgusting.
Played him on another team with the power battery and threw the shield on him. Hello 19 defense and 21 from range. Wasn't hit all night.

Agreed. Just played this yesterday with a Blue Lantern Recruit in 300 sealed. Went 4-0, cleared all opponents and gave up the Recruit once. 3 of the games on Coast City. Not to boast, but just saying that the lack of Flight, while an oversight in design accuracy, does little to hinder his play even on the month 1 maps. Whether top click or bottom click, he wrecked.

Ok, I need to put this into perspective. This Parallax fixes literally EVERY complaint about the original, for 20 points less. He is easier to obtain (Rare within a OP booster set instead of a con exclusive is easier both now and once the hooplah dies down), he has Quintessence, he actually has an extra point of range in an age of lower printed ranges, he has keywords, he has top dial RS/PW instead of Phasing/TK, his values are more stable and higher on average, he has printed 18 defense on multiple clicks, he gets middial Phasing instead of Force Blast and then end dial Hypersonic, he gets that Perplex power, and UNHOLY BALOGNA HE GETS THAT TRAIT. He is so much more action efficient than the old one that he's a better team player AND a better solo monster before resources and such are taken into account unless you want the most expensive combat-TK piece ever (there are merits to this in high point matches, but whatever).
What does he lose for this? Two clicks of life with not-quite-terribad stats, top-dial 12 attack, one click less of both Imperv/Invuln, two clicks of printed 5 damage, turns Willpower (reduntant with Quintessence) into ESD, and the flight symbol gets the axe. We're really complaining that a figure much more playable in 300 than the old one can be carried by his support figure instead of carrying it? Yes, okay, it affects his positioning a fair bit and keeps him from swooping in to Pulse Wave a group, and if he gets swarmed.
Yeah, he really SHOULD have flight, but even with that this is an EXCELLENT, long-demanded remake with different play options. If it bothers anyone that much, they can send me the ones they pull.

Pulled him today and played him w/ the power battery and 3 construct on it(net, shield and cross bow) and went 3-0 especially against a parallax chase, a sinestro corp. superboy prime and a Kyle parallax! Give him the shield all day and park in hindering for a 21 top click defense at range or a 19 w/ the green or sinestro ring bonus! (Gaag!):

Interesting but not overwhelmingly great in any way.
Went 3-1 in draft with him (1 WOL 1 Deadpool). I played him with the power battery, ring, shield construct and crossbow construct. He accomplished some pretty disgusting things (attacking at range 9 for 6 with probs, chilling out in hindering with 21 defense at range).
I lost to a guy who pulled Zillus Zox and Wolverine X-23 Duo (Right? Two super rares that work out to sub 300 and beat face? Luck....) But the games played were great.
I'm going to give him a whirl with 75 point Arisia for taxi (10 carry, 8 TK) and 75 point Boddikka as an off attacker. Seems like a fun casual 400 point theme team.
Dual targeting on this guy allows for your misses/hits of a single opponent to at least allow you to not take an action token for that attack. Simply target the desired character and a square of blocking terrain, you miss, deliver three to the blocking terrain, destroying it and removing an action token from Parallax here. Oh, you're just trying to re-position your Parallax, well make sure to use Running Shot and hit a square of blocking so that the re-position doesn't cost an action token. The major downside to this character is the lack of flight, but the ability to have friendlies remove action tokens by destroying blocking terrain as well is an added bonus. You could theoretically push this character and at the end of the turn have no action tokens on him, by destroying two squares of blocking.
I was facing a Weaponer with Hal here today, I was on click 5, all my opponent had left was Weaponer on his 2nd to last click... I perplexed down his attack with Hal's special power. Judge calls last turn, he rolls a crit-miss, and takes 2... KO. I've been playing ~7 years, and that ranks up there as one of the most epic conclusions to a match I've ever played, considering I wasn't going to be able to KO him due to his stop click.

What the hell is wrong with you, Wizkids? So you are telling me that the manifestation of fear in the universe can be contained just by leaving it abandoned in another planet without the means to fly away? This reminds me of Adam warlock with the infinity gauntlet...the second must powerful character in marvel universe with the most powerful artifact unable to fly...
The wall construct is his best friend. Protects him and if you want to try and attack him you need to bust the wall, taking tokens off him. He loves the ranx map.
