In his other thread he specifically references Hobgoblin. I think the point is to make the character usable at all, rather than "competitive" in a tournament setting.
I always view sets as having maybe 5 to 6 characters on average that fit the competitive demographic. That means many of the figures for collectors and comic fans need some help, particularly older stuff that started bad and never got updated.
Correct....merely wish to see certain characters demonstrate their abilities as in the comics I grew up reading. So many of my favorite heroes/villains thus far seem to be poorly interpreted in the early releases, Hawkeye and Hobgoblin among them. A fair number seem fine as is, but again I am relatively new to HC. Will take quite a while to go through a large enough number of games to get a "feel" for each model.
Did he use the word competitive? No, but was it very heavily implied? Certainly.
Implied ? Where ?

Yes. "in line"
But "in line" doesn't necessarily means "competitive"
It can just be "harmonizing"
We can't presume until the OP says it specifically.
Or do *I* don't understand what you mean by *competitive* ?
That's possible, as i'm currently understanding it really as being "suited for competition/venues" but it's not my native language and i can be misleaded...
But as i reread it, your post is just after something that is directly related to not being able to play custom in venues, so it HAS to be about "suited for venues" stuff, right ? Did i miss something ?

Did not perceived it myself that way.

Aren't you implying that the only possible reason someone would want to update the dial is to make them competitive ?
I don't think it's the only possible reasons. I couldn't be sure of what are the reasons of the OP before he express them. But i could try to *guess*, right ?
There is a difference between guessing (and using "perhaps" and "perceive") and "putting words in his mouth" by assuming it's automatically "very heavily implied"... you see ?
ALSO, don't you see how odd and rude it can be to come in a thread like that asking "why would you want to do that ?" (it can be perceived as "what you do is stupid" even if it's not what you wanted to say) especially if your questions is asked based on strong assumption about what the OP is really trying to do...
For what i know the answer to "why would you do that" could just be "for fun !"
I wasn't sure what he was trying to do, but my first post was just providing tools he could use to do whatever he wanted to do, ...

I'm not assuming he is doing this for one purpose or another, i'm just saying that alot of guys LOVE to just tweak things to their taste... and that's all...
Where do i put words in the mouth of anybody here ?
On the contrary your "reasonable" assumption has no foundations i can think of in what has been posted previous to your initial post here... so i'm puzzled
Well, nevermind, inbetween your initial post and this post, he did explain what he wanted to do, so... discussion's over i think.
Hahahaha! Damn you, Harpua, damn you and making people unignore you!!!
I don't even think I've ever seen that guy before.
For garrus vakarian, the day Harpua was put on his ignore list was the most important day of his life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

You can selectively view individual posts of people on your ignore lists. There's a "view post" button in the rep/report area where you can expand the ignored post without removing.

Competitive does not mean the same thing as dominating. It sounds to me like you may be conflating the two terms.

And perhaps you missed that my first post was a question.
sorry was editing while you answered, i often edit because i always have difficulties saying what i want to say in english, perhaps you will want to update your answer as well

(the part i edited in my previous post)
yes it's a question, a question that can be percevied as kinda rude, right ?
well, it's not a problem of difficulty/complexity per se, nor power level, it's a problem of harmony, of making old dials and new dials be "in line" together into something that i like to play with
when i see this :

dp051 V Banshee
Team: Police|X-Men
Range: 8
Points: 98
Keywords: Generation X, Horsemen of Apocalypse, Police, X-Corps, X-Men
(Special) Sibling Immunity: Banshee ignores all damage dealt by characters named Black Tom Cassidy unless it's dealt by a close combat attack. This ability can't be ignored.
(Special) It's Going to Get a Little Loud: Opposing characters within 6 squares can't use Super Senses. Opposing characters within 6 squares can't use Impervious, Invincible, or Invulnerability but can use Toughness instead. When Banshee hits a character that can't use a power due to this trait, increase damage dealt to that character by 1.
(Attack) Sonic Scream: Banshee can use Pulse Wave. When he does, if you give him a double power action instead he can use Improved Targeting: Ignores Blocking Terrain. When a ranged combat attack resolves, any blocking terrain along its line of fire to the target is destroyed.

is the type of dial i want to play with
The last one is the custom interpretation i do, and he is already ENOUGH more powerfull than the old vet for the 8 additional points FOR MY TASTE
wizkids doesn't provide enough dials that are "modern" in the stats and "oldies" in the fact that they use standard PAC powers in my opinion... but it's a matter of TASTE

There was a thread floating around where someone rearranged dials to minimize specials while still keeping the dials pretty much in tact.
Hey, don't you have some pointless posturing about morality you're supposed to be spouting? /ignored.
No, garrus, just always ready for YOU, and my irritating, ah, "posturing about morality"! But you won't ever SEE this if you're "ignoring me"!!!
I can always tell when a person on HCR is one of those types who has to get the last word in an argument; they are the ones who SAY SOMETHING before (supposedly) adding the hated victim to their IGNORE list. Why not just add them to your ignore list and never worry about them again?!?!
Great news, garrus! "Posturing" fulfilled!!!
And we now return you to our regularly scheduled thread which was derailed by Harpua actually offering a suggestion and everyone ignoring it and "posturing about morality".
I think he and I are aiming the OP to the same person. Gary van Horn (close to his username) has done an amazing thing by creating newish dials for a BUNCH of old figures, without adding traits, special powers or changing the dial TOP. That way, you can print out the dial insert and place it on top of an extra, put it into the Infinity Challenge figure and play away. The point value stays the same, but the figure now plays a lot more like modern figures. Gone are the 7 attacks and the 11 clicks for a 49 point figure. BUT the figure does mesh more smoothly with modern dials.

I don't think we're thinking of the same guy.
The one I'm thinking of was simplifying newer dials.
Basically, say you have a guy with a speed SP of "Moe can use Running Shot and Shape Change." On the same clicks as this SP Moe lacks a damage power. He'd rearrange the dial to have the standard grey RS box in speed and the dark blue SC on damage.
Basically it is the same figure, but it is simplified to come right off of the PAC. There are some mechanical differences, of course, such as having to use two Outwits against him now to get rid of both, but excluding minor impacts like those it is the same dial.
Greetings; am wondering if anyone has compiled a database of dial images. I have seen a few sites that allow you to print up dials one at a time, but that would be time consuming.
Mainly interested in re-dialing my pre-carded figures with modern game stats.
Thanks,
Paul
I'm doing just that right now, I'm up to Ultimates completely redialed and printable on my blog. http://garyvanhorn.blogspot.com/
