Vehicles cannot be assigned resources. A team that has a vehicle cannot contain the book of the skull. So my question is can a team that has Galactus, and the book of the skull, choose a vehicle to be the herald? It seems like no, but timing is everything.

I don't think a herald can be assigned an entity... The herald is a sideboard figure when the game starts and don't entities need to be attached before the game begins?

Timing is irrelevant. If a figure is on your team, it is assigned the Book of the Skull. Vehicles cannot be assigned resources. It doesn't matter when this happens, it can't happen. You cannot bring a vehicle onto your team if you're using Book of the Skull.

By the entity dying and bring brought back, sure! Not by paying the 15 points and having it start assigned.

The Herald is revealed when you reveal your force, so it's never really a sideboard figure (unless you end up picking an opponent's offered character as a herald, of course). Entities (for the 15 points) are attached when building your Force, which is before you reveal your force, which is before you know that your prospective Herald is really joining the team.

Unless I'm wrong (I can't find the Vehicle rules in the PG and I can't read the little cards in my current condition), there is no restriction on using a resource with a vehicle, you just can't assign a resource to a vehicle. Book of the Skull is assigned to everything on your team, which is why you can't use Book with Vehicles, but you could use other resources and vehicles on the same team, so long as the vehicle is not actually assigned the resource.

Suttukus, Correction for you on this sir. The BoS is assigned to all characters on your force. This is done when you build your force. The Herald is not part of your force during force construction.

Yes you can have the BoS on your Force with Galactus and then choose a Vehicle as the Herald. HOWEVER, the Vehicle can gain no benefits from the Resource or Relics.

Also, Entities cannot be assigned to a Vehicle be a Vehicle does not have the Shield or Indom Shield symbol. As such they are not legal targets for possession at any point.

As for the Sideboard/Herald concept. My understanding of the Sideboard (even though it is never actually described anywhere) is that the Sideboard is officially only for Replacement characters. The Herald is not a replacement character and as such it would never go on your sideboard.
