Simple Question. Can she take rings from Batteries? If she can, does it not render a power battery obsolete?

A simple answer is no, mainly because power batteries are not characters. Also removing the ring doesn't render the power batteries obsolete.

note that the ring is not ever on a "card" - it's on the top of the battery at all times, not on the battery's card, not on a corp member's card.

and a corp member assigned a construct - it's on their card, but it's not a relic.

Hold up, a construct IS a relic, it's just a relic assigned to the battery until you assign it to the character.

Also even though the battery would still work, the ring is assigned to the character too once they get a construct. Now I know the ring isn't physically put on the card so the wording might be a work around there... MIGHT but I'm still wondering...

a relic has a card that says "Relic" and has the ability to make a relic roll to pick it up.

You cannot do that with any constructs currently in the game.

No, characters do not have the ring on their card, unless it's a ring that you placed on the map and they rolled and picked it up.

the game is brutally literal - if her power says you can do something to a character "with a relic on their card", then that's the pre-condition for her power.

the fact that they have some mechanism to "use" the power of a ring that's not on their card - then her power's pre-condition hasn't been met.

Got it... so it's really only effective against he Book of the Skull, which is good... if you're fighting someone with the book of the skull... or I guess the Mandarin tower.

True, I guess it just sucks that they are the major resource right now, making it sort of a gamble to put her on your team. However, the high defense, stealth and perplex isn't bad on any day either.

Is Selena simply removing relics, or are they assigned to her? I've never used that trait successfully.

She gains the use of that relic. She steals it just like the amazing Bilbo Baggins.

If a character picks up a ring as a relic she can take it from them. As long as they are using as a relic instead of on a Power Battery it works.
