It's too bad the dice are such poor quality. I really enjoyed the Quarrior game (until they went all WizKids with it and added a bunch of unnecessary mechanics in future expansions), but the dice are just junk.

I still don't understand the $5 dollar price increase. WK must have paid Wizards a lot for the license and charging an extra $5 is the only way to give them a profit.

Eternal Games: 2016 Regional Winner. 2016 Super Q Top 16. 2017 Super Q 5th place
I mostly just like the improved artwork on these cards vs the Marvel/DC/Yugioh ones.
And the new standard effects detailed in the rule book, like regeneration and the vampire one.

Yeah, I haven't seen 1 die out of the 150 they've done that's as cool as the quake dragon. there seems to be less occurrences of the special dies(marbled, translucent).
So they definitely aren't AS good. But for me I think they are good enough. Unless Age of Ultron rehashes the same dice for a 3rd time. That will probably kill any expectations I have of this game being a long term venture.

I am paying about 78 cents per pack.
Getting two cards and two dice for that price, factoring in licensing and packaging,
does not leave a lot of room for spending a ton of money on higher quality dice.

Personally, I'd rather pay a buck or buck and a quarter per pack and get quality.

And it's a shame we aren't getting more "named" characters.
I don't know much about D&D, but I do know there are a lot of famous characters in the various D&D universes.
Some of them have big followings.
Why limit yourself to Forgotten Realms?
Its probably because Forgotten Realms is one of the more popular in DnD. Also, its just the first set, so focusing on a single Realms is probably better. Though I will say that a Huma die would have gone a ways to sway me into getting this set. But as of right now, I'm not interested. I'm getting the YGO stuff because it is the next starter out that isn't Marvel, and it is an IP that I am familiar with. After that I will be getting only the DC stuff (which can't come fast enough!).

I agree, but there is a huge difference in shopper mentality in a product that costs $0.99 versus $1.25.
