Hello! I'm hoping to teach HC to a group of youth in the near future, and I'm working up a one-sheet that covers common areas of rule confusion.
Since my head contains a soup of rules changes going back to IC, I myself am often the source of any problems that crop up. I would be grateful if folks could run eyes over the bits below and verify that I have them right. Thanks!
--You can TK a fig who is holding an object; you can yourself both Carry a fig and hold an object; but you cannot Carry a fig who is holding an object.
--In the following map-grid example, X is blocking terrain or the corner of a building, and ABC are all figs with no Improved Targeting in clear terrain:
XA
BC
A and B can punch each other (are adjacent), but have no Line of Fire to each other.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
I have to agree with both of them... put it in simple terms when you're first describing the action, but use the proper game terms as well.
"So in this example #2, Batman (B) can punch Joker (A) with a Close Combat Attack, but he doesn't have Line of Fire to him."
As a side note, WK used to have some great materials that they produced years ago when they had New Guy Night... small pamphlets with the extreme basics of the rules that were simplified for new players to see it and not be as overwhelmed. I wish they still produced them, but I have a handful of them at home just in case I had any brand new players or anyone who was interested in the game after I had to leave the game for a while (as I wasn't sure I'd ever play a tournament again). :-\

I'd prefer to see your example #2 to say "Batman (B) can make a close combat attack (or use a close combat action) against Joker (A), but cannot target him with a ranged combat attack or action because he cannot draw an unblocked line of fire to him".
Fliers can carry Foots. Fliers can't carry Fliers.
Punching is a Close Combat attack. Shooting is a Ranged Combat Attack.
Free Actions and Non-Free Actions.
Replace then Modify! Do it!
Telekinesis, Running Shot, Hypersonic Speed, Charge, Perplex, and Probability Control are very good powers. If your team doesnt have one of these , you may be doing something wrong.
High Values are good for you
Low Values are bad
Speed: 12+ High 8- Low
Attack: 12+ High 8- Low
Defense: 18+ High 15- Low
Damage: 4+ High 2- Low
Range: 8+ High 2- Low
If all of your guys are shooters then Stealth will kick your butt.
Penetrating vs. Normal Damage.
Pulse Wave, Single vs. Multi-Target.
Sheesh, it's turning into a pamphlet!
Thank you for submitting this question. We are considering the answer to this and will respond once we have determined a final answer.

Rule #1: actions = attacks with benefits; attacks are "not" actions - this is a key difference/distinction
Rule #2: always have the PAC at the table with you
Rule #3: I always forget difference between Invincible, Impervious, and Invulnerable, so see rule #2. Don't try to memorize the PAC or the combos (other than Running Shot + Pulse Wave or things like that)
