I asked on the WK Rules site if any character can take a free action to remove a token or if it has to be a character with a token. That was a few days ago and it hasn't shown up yet so.... Maybe we have to wait until the "official release" of it.
Hex Magic: Once per turn, after an attack roll has been determined, Scarlet Witch may give the attacker up to 3 Hex Magic tokens if the attacker is within range. For each token she gives the attacker, reduce the attack total by 1. Opposing characters may be given a free action to remove a Hex Magic token and modify any friendly character's attack value by +1 this turn.
Sorry if this seems dumb. As I read it, Scarlet Witch reduces an attackers attack roll by up to -3, by giving up to 3 Hex Magic tokens. So far so good. It then says opposing characters are given a free action to remove a HM token and modify any friendly character's attack value.
Why would an opponent give a bonus to one of your characters?
Are the Hex Magic tokens recurring in effect (ie the tokens remain, and once per (each) turn, can reduce the attack total?
Is this miswritten? Do they mean to say "Opposing characters may be given a free action to remove a Hex Magic token and modify any opposing character's attack value?"
or for multi-player games, read it as:
"Opposing characters may be given a free action to remove a Hex Magic token and modify the attack value of any character friendly to that character."
"You can have the truth without love, but you cannot have love without the truth. Truth is foundational.” - me
the way I'm reading Hex Magic the plus ones would go to characters friendly to scarlet witch. If it said "friendly to the that character" then it would be different. Since it is just friendly her team should get the bonus. Thus taking three from them or giving three to you.
The tokens stacking could be a real problem for the other team if they continue to remain on the character and effect future attacks. Wish they had been a little more clear on how the tokens played out.
I do like how this version of Wanda is much more useful to AoU Starter Hulk as support than the AoU Rare SWitch. Lowering a character's AV by -3 not only makes it extremely difficult to hit Hulk (he'll have the equivalent of a 22 DV on click 11), but he'll gain a Rage token from being targeted.
@koala: The only "friendly" characters in relation to the Hex ability are opposing, by default.

I can tell (I think) what they're trying to do. But the default is "opposing" and "friendly" are relative to the character with the power or trait. Within a single sentence, as written, they (maybe) are shifting the object of opposing and friendly. If they mean friendly to the opposing character, they should state specifically "characters friendly to the opposing character" and not leave it at "friendly characters."
That one/some are able to gleen an intended meaning from something communicated, does not necessarily mean it was said clearly or correctly.
So, I think you are right in how you're reading it.
I also think they wrote it wrong.

That is GREAT news. I figured that was the intention but rules can always get a little funny.
As long as you maintain some discipline with the power this can really hurt the opposing team. Once you have taken out the target this power is focus towards, they lose the hex tokens and on to the next. This scarlet witch, mastermind, destiny, toad (for tie up while you set up shop) and zombie mag (to convert the opposing team to your side) is such a nasty combination for just crippling the opposition...I'm going to love using them!!
Glad they've clarified in black and white that its as intended not written. I so wish I had zombie mags. Have the rest but even without zombie powers, the zombie mags is a nice mid point magneto and power set works. That team of yours runs 10 shy of 400 including ata. Nice team :)

So many relics could be used to fill that 10pts.
Hmmm...throwing in the omega drive, could this team be a force against the new heavyweight champion Hulk? Use omega drive to outwit battle fury and get a thrall token on him...he is in trouble.
Sorry, been working on teams to combat that monster lol
Thrall would work provided he wasn't on his own. It does however, require mastermind hitting! :) hulk is a total powerhouse. Can't wait to pit the brotherhood against him. Hexing will be v useful there.
So, you place three hex magic tokens on an opponent, -3 to the attack roll that was made. Then your opponent can use a free action and give one of his figures +1 to attack? Then at the end of the turn, all of this goes away?
