Tempting Fate

Fate is defined as:
1. the ultimate force that supposedly predetermines the course of events
2. the inevitable fortune that happens to a person or thing

Fate will play a role in the world of HeroClix for one day. Heroes and Villains must try to prepare for events they will have no control over.

Point Total: 700 (5 actions per round)
Format: Golden Age (there is no probability bonus for theme)
Rounds: 3+finals (35 min. rounds)
Restrictions: No Feats, BFC's, Colossals, Vehicles, or Resources

Barred Figures:
-Any character with Probability Control (or Team Ability that grants the use of it), or any special power or trait that grants a reroll at any time.
-Any character with the Power Cosmic, or Quintessence Team Ability.
-Any other character over 160 points.

Rules:

Critical Hit: Any time a player rolls two 6′s while targeting an opposing character, that target character is immediately knocked out. The exceptions to this are attempts to use Incapacitate, Mind Control, or Possession.

Critical Miss: Any time a player rolls two 1′s while targeting an opposing character, the player’s own character is immediately knocked out. There are no exceptions for this.

Tempting Fate: Twice per game you may “tempt fate.” On an attack roll that requires 7 or better to hit, you may use a “fate” token. If you succeed, deal the target one unavoidable damage in addition to the damage of the attack. If you fail, the character attempting to make the attack is dealt three clicks of unavoidable damage.

*note*
-you may not tempt fate while trying to use Incapacitate, Mind Control, or Possession.
-you may not tempt fate twice in the same round.
-tempting fate is optional.

Build: 600 pts (minimum 3 figures)

Requirements: SHAZAM! One piece on your team must be a member of the DC Marvel Family. The members are Isis, Osiris, Black Adam, Shazam, Wizard Shazam, Captain Marvel Jr. and Mary Marvel. Your team cannot have more than one (which also means no playing Black Adam/Shazam at full duo).

Additional Notes: No Vehicles, Colossals, Resources, Feats, Pogs, or BFC’s. Special Objects are fine, as per standard Heroclix rules.

Final Game Mechanic Note: Any time a character with the powers of Shazam is KO’d, Earthquake is considered to go off in that square. The damage is penetrating and the knockback is unavoidable.

Hey, it is so great to see that there are other players in Waterloo! Good job at getting the ball rolling at JBC, I'll definitely have to come out sometime. I've got a group of friends who all play casually, but it would be awesome to meet new players, and try some tournaments too!

Thanks for the kind words. Would love to see you guys come out, and we keep the tournaments pretty casual. We like the meta-free environment for the most part (doesn't hurt to get down and dirty on occasion).

Just an FYI (and shame on me for waiting so long to post), we're running a New Guy Night at Just By Chance this Saturday night.

The event gets underway at 6:30.

A year later we're still going strong.

As the title says ... I am just getting back into Clix since being away since 2004 and I am loving it but I am short on people to play. JBC is about an 1 1/4 hr drive and I need to justify the trip. So is the community open to new players, beginner skill level, and inviting to new people?
