I want to like this Iceman, but his defense is terrible. (come on, no Combat Reflexes or a toughness 18 defense, at least once?) That Barrier SP is great, but if someone can alpha strike him, he isn't going to last but one or two hits. 6 range with PB and RCE is alright, but still he is best played as a third stringer who cleans up what the big boys straight up smash through. I am still looking for a strong "can make ice duplicates of himself" Iceman who is tough and can dish out ice damage like the veteran he has been in the comics for awhile now.
I agree with the above poster. How have we not seen a Wolverine or Iceman that rips all other pieces to shreds?? These guys are legends and deserve to not just have unlimited diluted versions released to the players.
I've been playing high point games with my friends lately doing just this it has been so much fun, on top of it I also have the cylops chase nearby so they can get the +1 to attack as well, it hits most of the time and locks my opponents down very well I am very impressed with this set in general but this fig and hope summers would have to be my favorite figs after the p5, just still need to get majik and emma then I will be content :p .
Fun for whom?? I just played someone who ran this Iceman with 4-- count 'em--4 Hope Summers in a 400 point game! It was an uphill battle for sure. In the end, I did OK because I used the Cable / Deadpool duo that allows for a duo attack after Phasing. Still, after almost an hour, the points tally was 75 to 69.
This sculpt is one of my all-time favorites. The dial I also give 5 stars. The combination of side-step and the special barrier is his entire game, and boy is it effective if used properly. I agree with the earlier post that this guy is a little tough to fit into a competitive 300 point team, but in the 500-ish range, he can really hold his own. The tie-up capability of the barrier is unreal, and the ability to deliver it off of a sidestep opens a vast array line of sight options. The sidestep + special is on the first 4 clicks, so he's HIGHLY pushable. I saw some complaints about his defense 16/toughness, but I don't see that as a problem for a number of reasons. He really shouldn't be getting hit if he's carried around and behind a barrier most of the time, but if he gets hit for a couple, then he picks up side-step/RCE for two clicks which is fine with me, then click 5 has psy blast on a 10 attack which is respectable, and down into a nice deep 7 click dial for 91 pts. He can also give or receive X-Men TA which is super. It's also hard for a player to decide to attack him in a 500 point game with some other better targets running around doing major damage. So he gets ignored and just does his thing.
wait so for an action he does barrier, than free action punches everyone touching the wall, than give them all action tokens, and then deals them all damage according to how many action tokens they have??? YOU CAN END UP DOING 5 DAMAGE TO EACH CHARACTER!!!!

Not quite. The close combat attack he gets after using Barrier carries the consequence of adding an action token and dealing that much damage to each hit character, not that + his printed damage. So he could still end up doing 3 damage to some non-Willpower characters he hits with the attack, all considered -- he puts a second token on, they take 2 damage and then get a push damage after actions resolve.
