Are mods and repaints legal in tournaments if they have a legal dial?

Sure as long as the dial is unaltered in anyway. Plus, the custom should be recognizable with the base. For example, you can repaint a Hobgoblin to look like Green Goblin and put it on the Green Goblin base. If it is a different character altogether, for example Alpha Flights Guardian, on a Meteorite base, then you would have to let your opponent know and it would be the judges decision.

Not all judges will allow this as it could be confusing to some players who are not familiar with the characters. In the end, it's up to the judge and players at the venue. If players don't know the whole Green Goblin/Hobgoblin thing then they may be confused by a green looking Hobgoblin and why it's not on a Hobgoblin base.

So I'd recommend checking with your judge if your mods are allowed before trying to play them and bring non-modified versions just in case.

It should be up to your judge. I just played a tourney with a custom Vulture. Keep on customizing.

It is up to your judge as to whether or not the repaints are too confusing. Some judges may be really picky but most aren't. So you'll have to check with him/her before playing them.

ALL of my figs are repainted... and some of them have changed completely...

What I do is I keep the base and dial untouched. I do what I want with the figure, but without confusing no one.

Since the Rogue figure was UGLY as hell I made my own Rogue with Wonder Woman and my V Rogue is Rogue from the X-men Evolution and I used Typhoid Mary.

My Cyclops is a Booster Gold repainted and so...

My judge accepts the repaints as long as the base and dial havent been modified and that the figure resembles the original...

Also but not to go overbaord have a printout showing the stats of the unaltered dial so no one has grounds to not trust you, because if you alter the character you "could" have altered the dial.....
