A slew of Questions from our venues event last night...
Hello Everyone,
Just had a few questions come up last night, and figured it would be quicker to just ask everyone here for some answers...
So, here we go...
First Question, ZERO EFFECT? This question is specifically about Power Batteries...
SHARE A CONSTRUCT: Give the Power Battery a free action and roll a d6 that can't be rerolled. If a Construct is attached to the Power Battery in the slot indicated by the result, all friendly Corps Members can use the ability of that Construct until your next turn.
Can you activate this power to spin the battery if there are NO Constructs attached to the Battery? Since it would technically be a ZERO EFFECT? just not sure?
Second Question, Pulse Wave with Fantomex/E.V.A. or Iron Pharoh/Bird......
GOLDEN FALCON, SOARING: When Iron Pharaoh is first placed on the map, place a Falcon special terrain marker in an adjacent square. The Falcon marker moves as if it is a character with the Flight ability. Give Iron Pharaoh a free action to either move this marker up to 3 squares or until the end of the turn, Iron Pharaoh can draw lines of fire and count range (up to 3 squares) from the Falcon marker using Improved Targeting: Ignores Hindering Terrain, Ignores Elevated Terrain, Ignores Outdoor Blocking Terrain, Ignores Characters.
If Iron Pharaoh uses PULSE WAVE can he do it through the bird, or E.V.A. if using Fantomex? If he does, does he count squares out from the TOKEN Character, or the original Character, OR BOTH? I was told that you can choose to activate only through the character, or the token, or BOTH,... does not sound right. ALSO, If you activate through the token does it take the damage and die?
Third Question, Do Entities no longer break theme teams?
with the new Equip rules for Entities, do they no longer break theme team requirements?
Not sure, but been told this is now the rule.
Fourth Question, When using Mind Control (on a friendly character in this situation) can you activate the same power twice in that turn? Ie, if you have a character on Regen, and you mind control him to use it, and still have it after that action, can you then activate it again with that character?
Activating the same power twice? Due to once as a free action ( I think as a free action with MC) then as an action from the character?
----
Thanks all for any help.
~Mad

Look down on me, see an enemy.

You would count squares from the token for the Lines of Fire drawn from it. And last time I saw a ruling it was stated that theIron Pharaoh or Fantomex could choose if it wanted to draw Lines of Fire from both itself and the token or just exclusively from either itself or the token. However all such rulings seems to have been removed from WES so I don't know what applies now.
When you draw Lines of Fire from Pulse Wave through fantomex's E.V.A. token then you would need to draw a LoF to E.V.A. too as it is an "other character" which would most likely kill it if the attackroll hits. Iron Pharaoh's falcon token is not a character so it would not be targeted by Pulse Wave. However you can't target characters 3 squares away from the falcon through it.

Third Question, Do Entities no longer break theme teams?
with the new Equip rules for Entities, do they no longer break theme team requirements?
Not sure, but been told this is now the rule.
They are still characters as the new equip-wording is refering to them as "characters" so they will still break theme.
"Entity Possession When Black Hand is KO’d or if you pay 25 points when building your force, equip this character to a friendly character and link it to that character’s dial. "

No. Previously you could do that. But that has been revoked so the "once per turn as a free action"-rule also applies to mind control now.
And yes this also applies to effects that state that they may only be used "Once per game/round/turn". Mind Control no longer "resets" such stipulations.

I'm pretty sure that your choices are only:
- both Falcon and Pharaoh
- Pharoah only

"Entity Possession When Black Hand is KO’d or if you pay 25 points when building your force, equip this character to a friendly character and link it to that character’s dial. "
This is definitely incorrect. They can be used to create a themed team, but they are not counted as characters for any other team building purposes.
Using Eclipso again as an example, if you choose to pay his 25 point cost during construction to equip him to a standard character on your force, he would not count as a character for any other parts of force construction, or later for any game effect that affects “friendly characters”, etc. This means his keywords would not apply to Themed Teams, he could not be assigned ATA’s, he would not count towards your initiative roll, etc.
It was ruled that if you PW through EVA that it would be KO'd in the attack (assuming it hits)... no "most likely" about it.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
Can you be given an action to Charge, if that character has been previous on this turn given an action for Theme Team Prob?
Thanks
~Mad
Yes.
Themed Team Probability Control (TTPC): When your force is a named themed team, it can use TTPC. TTPC allows any character on a named themed team to use Probability Control. This use of Probability Control does not count towards any other game effects that reference the use of Probability Control (such as meeting prerequisites for feats). The number of times you may use TTPC during a game is equal to the number of characters on your force at the beginning of the game, up to 1 per 100 points of the games build total. In addition, characters using TTPC:
Must possess the keyword that establishes the theme of the force. Must not have already been given a non-free action this turn.
Must not be able to use Probability Control through another game effect.
Must not have used Probability Control in this way earlier in the turn.
Must immediately be given an action token (this does not affect your Action Total for the turn).
There are no restrictions about giving an action during that turn except that you can't give the non-free action before the prob. You can TTPC and then give a non-free action later in that turn, but it would be getting 2 tokens in that turn (resulting in any applicable pushing damage if they can't use WP).

Harpua is correct - they grant their keyword to the possessed, so Black Hand gets to "push" his Black Lantern Corps keyword to the possessed, but Black Hand is not a character on your force at that or any other time.
So if you had Black Hand possessing TW Superman and that's it - you have a OMA and you do not have a theme team (named or otherwise).

Isn't the OP asking if you can (1) MC a fig to make it use Regeneration as a Free Action then (2) subsequently have the MC'd fig use Regeneration as a Power Action? If so, I believe this would be allowed, as the restriction applies to using multiple Free Actions to activate the same effect... or have I misunderstood?

Yeah, I have caught a lot of people off guard as well.
The only thing I don't like is the ensuing argument I get into with some of them afterwards because they don't understand that particular rule.

I'm with you on this. That link is for outwit, which if a free action. It is ruled you can't use the same free action twice. However, regen can be used as a power action and free action on the same turn. DofP Wolvie can actually do that himself if you push him to regen, as he can regen for free once he has two action tokens.
