I think I am up to 107 Ultron dials from the AoU SLOP.
I went a little crazy with trades and Drafting Ultrons.
(my daughter and I must have played almost 30 events between us)
So, Yeah, I have played a few games with the Ultron Drones.
I played a 300 point No Tactics with 10 Drones.
And a 300 points with 9 Drones and 30 points of Resources.
And a 100 point game with 3 Drones and filler.
They were all a lot of fun, and played just as well as I had hoped for.
I have my 4 favourite Drones that I use.
Sometimes I don't push some of the Drones - depends on the opponent,
but all the Drones get better when I do.
Half the strategic fun is figuring out where to go with all the Drones,
and when to turn off Willpower.
I got lucky and got multiple of old 6 Arms.
That is a crazy 2nd click.

It seems to me that any more than two drones on a team is a waste of points, since they're easily killed and can't be used more than once per turn for ID call-ins. Pairing them with Ultron 1 drones helps, of course, but then you're just feeding more points to your opponent.

Depends on the point total and the level of competitiveness, but don't underestimate the power of a mess of these things swarming you.
And feeding your opponent points is not an issue if you are killing him in the process.
Do you have to tell your opponent if they are at 30 or 120 point level?
Normally it is fairly obvious since you have to write it on your army list. Plus Maths.
Not 100% sure if you play a 120pt Drone and a 30pt Drone of the same type you would need to inform your opponent which is which. In the same way if you are playing several NF001 Nick Fury you probably don't have to tell your opponent which is the higher point figure.

If they rule it like Mysterio was done you might have to tell them if they ask, it never came up in my games though as my drones were very obviously 30pts lol.
I have found that the ultrons work especially well with the white lantern ring on the battery. Having them revive onto their second click is very annoying. Partnering that up with ultron-1 means that they are all a real pain to kill. Vision helps too.
