No. This is wrong. If this was true, then they could use ATA's because ATA's are possessed. We already know that's wrong. This has nothing to do with "can use" or "possess".

The correct way of thinking is to look at their dial or the card they come with. If the power or ability giving them the modifier is printed or showing on the dial, or it's a trait printed on their card, then they can use it to modify themselves or another KC character. If it isn't, then the modifier won't work.

Correct - look at the WK ruling on KC Superman and KC Shazam! and their ability to use/benefit from the Kryptonian ATA.

Superman cannot.
Shazam!, because he's a Wildcard, can.

Can use/Possess has nothing to do with how they interpret this. Source is all they are concerned with.
