You kids with your newfangled pink powers and "improved" everything . When solid figures from 4 years ago are dismissed as outclassed and outdated and old standouts are all but forgotten, WK's power creep to insure sales is increasingly obvious. (can they stem the trend? I have my doubts...)
But more to the point, since others have shared some of their alternate top Batmen as well, I will present my top 5 Batmen from an oldschool perspective. The Top 5 as presented in the OP pretty much seems to be in the category of optimized playability to win. This top 5 takes that into account somewhat, but looks at other factors too.
#5. Out of the Shadows Batman JL001
Pros: 1) Currently 1.75 to acquire on TCGPlayer.com
2) Awesome Special Power movement and powers that play very well as Batman
3) Relatively cheap point cost and many clicks of life
4) Lots of keywords including Outsiders and all(?) flavors of JL
Cons: Lacking high raw numbers to combat power creep and lacks new pink powers and improvements. However, it is easily thematically justified to play with a Utility Belt to even the playing field with modern figs.
#4. 10th Anniversary Batman d10a001
While not produced so long ago, this figure has a sculpt in an action pose and a classic look. It can be had for 1.49 according to TCGPlayer.com. He makes a great team player at his low point cost. As others have already mentioned in the thread, this figure is perhaps the ideal Batman pilot for the various Bat-Vehicles. Think what you will of vehicles, but sometimes, Batman just needs to be cruising in the Batmobile or his Batwing on his way to a fight. It has been that way in comics and TV since way back when.
#3. Adam West Batman BCTV001
OK, this is a relatively recent clix with modern bells and whistles on its dial, but nothing says oldschool like TV Batman. Those who grew up rushing home to watch reruns of this show after school will know what I am talking about. As others have mentioned, this figure is VERY fun to play, and it has a funny sculpt to boot. Takes about $1.50 to acquire.
#2. Golden Age Batman DC 75th Anniversary 052
Hard to get more oldschool than this. One of the best Heroclix sculpts ever. Relatively cheap, highly playable figure that has the Justice Society and All Star Squadron keywords, as well as the JSA TA! Can be obtained for about 8$.
#1. Lamppost Batman Arkham Asylum 099
Hard to believe noone has shown this inline dial in this thread yet.
Best Batman sculpt, period. Long considered the most definitive, iconic Batman clix. Very effective and playable figure that plays as Batman should. Like with Out of the Shadows Batman, there should be no compunction in playing this thematically with a Utility Belt to help it hold up better against modern day figures. It is still not very cheap to buy, but it is much easier to acquire than it used to be.
