It's been quite a while since we've seen Heather as Vindicator, so I'm glad to see a new version of her. I only wish she was in her green costume this time. That Force Field seems great at first, but it won't help much against multiple attackers. Still, it'll help her longevity against P/PB opponents.
Overall I'm not very impressed with this OP kit. The only original alphan they didn't clix in IIM was Marrina, but instead of her we got Heather. On top of that they could have used the chance to fix Sasquatch instead of remaking Northstar and Aurora, both of whom have perfectly good dials already. None of these new dials are good enough to make up for this in my eyes either.
Anyone else notice that Toughness on the dial and then the Ignore up to 2 damage for the trait, but they can't be used together in the first place, cause you can only ignore or reduce from one source or the other, not use them in conjunction.
Dice rolls will be the bane of my competitive Heroclix career.
Since nothing else uses the force field tokens, the idea is presumably she can stop an extra damage every other turn (burn two, two turns later you can burn two again).
It also effectively gives her toughness versus up to two attacks on her 18D v Ranged on her last three clicks, so that's not too bad.
If im reading this correctly then she can technically avoid 3 damage as long as she has 2 force fields and toughness. it is not using two def reducers it is shedding 2 force fields and absorbing 1 damage fr toughness. Is this correct? Beyond that i love auto damage for those figs w high defenses stacked w super senses , shape change, and prob. I think she may be better then she is being given credit for!
My take is that the Force Field tokens and Toughness CAN be used at the same time, because they're NOT being used at the same time. Follow my logic: if a character has Toughness and Invulnerability, say from wearing a Hulkbuster Torso, and is hit with a 3 damage attack, you would apply Toughness and Invulnerability at the same time, choosing one or the other. The Force Field tokens apply after this point, when damage has already been reduced/ignored. It's in the "being dealt damage" phase. So if she is hit for 3, reduces it to 2 via Toughness, she can then cash in both tokens to ignore 2 of the remaining damage. Because it's IGNORE, she can obviously use it to soften Psy-Blast/EW, or even prevent Precision Strike from dealing any damage.
I agree with TP6's reading. This is a potent trait, although it can be fairly easily overwhelmed by massive damage. It is worth highlighting the "opposing character's attack" precondition.
Fun figure. I haven't had the chance to use her 'Lava Jet' SP, yet. She either spends the entire game on her top click, or gets hit for massive damage as soon as opponents realize how annoying she can potentially be.
