Did we ever get a definitive answer as to whether or not attached characters and/or respawnable characters considered the same character if they are KOed and respawned within the same turn? Do they retain previous action tokens? Can they take an action before the KO, free or otherwise, and do so again when recreated? Is there any way at all to tell at a glance ones that can do any of these things or cannot?
I'm thinking stuff like Redwing, Monkey Joe, EVA, Penguin Automa-Bombs, Robo-Penguins, Dagger from the Cloak & Dagger duo, and so on. This has been coming up more frequently later, and I can't remember what WizKids ever settled on. Thanks, folks.
Blackheart.. was the only ruling I can recall.. but that figures pogs.. specificly never get koed.. so they keep thier tokens.. I believe that if it is ko.. and you bring it back.. it is a new figure, so new tokens.
It's going to come down to the wording of the specific effect.
PARTNERS FOR LIFE: Dagger's actions don't count against your action total. At the beginning of your turn, you may remove Dagger from the game if she is adjacent to a friendly CWSOP #107 Cloak & Dagger.
Dagger is removed from the game and new Daggers are added from outside the game. So it's always a new character.
MY BEST WEAPON TO DATE!: The Penguin begins the game with the Robo-Penguin attached. When placing a Robo-Penguin bystander on the map you may remove the Robo-Penguin from Penguin's base and use it to represent the bystander. This bystander modifies its combat values by +1 and, when it is KO'd, re-attach the Robo-Penguin to The Penguin's base.
The 3d robo penguin is KO'd, so it's removed from the game and the 3d token is just used repeatedly to represent distinct characters.
So, it will come down to the wording of the effect.

To go along with what Wolverazio said, some examples of the other side of that coin:
Both Teekl and Brain would not be new characters, since they never leave the game, they just re-attach.
The key words to look for are "remove from game" and "when it is KO'd", those are going to result in new characters, whereas just "re-attach" by itself will not.
what about horde tokens (in an epic game).. do they retain the action tokens... The rules say "return x number of them to your starting zone.." (summarized).. but they were KOed.. and scored.. so I assume they would also be new characters.. and not have any action tokens.
