The thing is, Deez, all your assumptions could be correct or they could all be wrong. I believe your assumptions are partly correct in that most people who want to see the unboxing on these forums know how to find them. However, there is also probably a small contingent of folks who don't scour the forums but would still like to watch the videos conveniently from the front page.
As far as your comment about "obvious team" articles or my thoughts on all the ROC stuff, the front page seems to be less about actual "news" on the game the site was built to support than the rest of those things. I, as a longtime supporter of HCRealms, would love to see more actual "news" on the front page and thought all of the unboxings might actually warrant some consideration.
It's all cyclical. More eyeballs on the videos mean more videos can be shot and shared with all the folks who enjoy them. It's not needy, it's just plain common sense.
Can't argue with wanting to change the front page of this place away from ROC nonsense. What makes it worse is it seems the actual Wizkids's Clix site seems to be competing with it. News of product should be first, for sure. "Elevating your game" isn't worth showcasing before the product itself. Everyone got into this game because of the visual shiny of it, not the dark and shadowy rules lurking behind a corner to stab you in the brain with confusion.
And as for my comment on being needy, this post came off that way to me:

What the heck does it take to get some front page love around here? Single figure preview articles get front page. Game theory and theme teams get front page. But big set unveiling preview videos don't warrant it?
I've done nothing over time but give props to HCRealms. I talk about them at least once in each unboxing series. I talk about the site on appearances and shows. I buy and wear the shirts in the vids as well. I've been an adamantium donor for over a decade. In short, I support this site because I love this site.
I've sent messages to mods in the past to try and get some run on the front page, get some more eyeballs that way, and the responses have been spotty. I gave up this time around. Didn't even post a message.
It just feels like all the extra stuff I do here with card drops and reveals above and beyond videos (Like Thornn's card) are appreciated by you guys (which I love) but aren't really appreciated by the mods. It honestly bums me out a little.
You guys are awesome though, don't get me wrong on that! Just wanted to vent.
Anyway. Thanks for watching. Sorry for the few mistakes I made and not showing a couple cards. I'm truly opening, cold reading cards, processing it all real time, trying to make sense of it and make it entertaining all at once, so I'm bound to make a few mistakes. Still thought this series was one of my better ones.
Hope y'all enjoyed it.
I get venting about mods (believe me), but all the "look what I do for this place" lines makes it seem as if you think the realms owes you something. Either you do what you do for the realms and the game because you love it, or don't do it at all. Exposure on the front page of here, which as we've both acknowledged would currently be fleeting, is minuscule when compared to say the top scrolling banner of the actual Heroclix website or the upcoming sets section here and the way it's ran. That seems to be more common sense than anything. What there is to be gained by being on the front page is so marginal that to be upset about it is nearly unreasonable.
Of course, if I've misread all you've said (entirely possible, this is the internet) you have my apologies. I've just been wary lately of those in the entertainment business attaching themselves to something with a fan base in an attempt to win over said fan base and add to their personal following.
I know you play this game. I know you legitimately enjoy it and want to see it continue to succeed. But when you make comments using the word "I" that many times in that particular context it comes off as needy, at least to me.
Of course opinions here will no doubt vary wildly in the other direction.
I'm grateful for the work you do on your own time, Scott. It helps me get an idea if I'm going to buy singles, a brick, a case, or wait for a CUR. Plus I love your delivery. It's enjoyable to see a celebrity with similar hobbies.
I do have to join in the chorus on the way articles make it to the front page. It used to be all previews and some team builds and strategy, but lately it's been missing the figures portion of the game (without which, we might as well have some homemade cards and use pennies on a map). I'm not dissing the website owners and the moderators. I get that this is volunteer. But it is a bit odd to have a site about a miniature figure game that doesn't show off it's figures.
I open the landing page once a day for news, so of course I don't see changes frequently. It seems to change every 5-7 days unless there is a special even going one, and even then, it's slow to change to me. Others have said that going to the forums is what I'm supposed to do, but if there is no news on the front page, then I have no reason to visit there, as would a new person who is just happening on the site.
Maybe the format for the front page needs a redesign? Maybe it needs a more newsy look, where the headline is a regularly changing quick thing and the list of articles underneath can be separated into Product, Game Play, and Events? Or maybe not. Maybe this is just a place to build teams in the units and find the competition events? And Facebook is where the previews will be located by Wizkids (directing us to their website)?
I know keeping up a site is a lot of work. I know there is no easy choices, as giving more time means something else suffers. But it seems there are interests that are not being met that might need a closer look.
