"PULSE WAVE Give this character a ranged combat action even if it is adjacent to an opposing character; the area of effect for this attack is half the character’s range value. Draw lines of fire to all other characters within the area of effect, including at least one opposing character; these lines of fire ignore all game effects except for walls, blocking and elevated terrain. Game effects possessed or used by characters with a line of fire drawn to them are ignored until the action has been resolved. If a line of fire is drawn to more than 1 character, this character’s damage value becomes 1 and is locked. Each character hit is dealt damage."
Quick question:
If an opposing fig with PW has Drain tokens on it from Iron Nail and PWs that same Iron Nail, would the Drain tokens be ignored for purposes of AV and damage? My thought is yes, since Iron Nail is in the area of the Pulse Wave. "Rapid Power Drain" does not use the language of "possessed or used," but is obviously a game effect. Thoughts?
I would agree with Sassamo, that if Iron Nail is in the AOE for PW and it was that particular Iron Nail that placed the Drain Tokens on the character using PW, then yes, the trait would be ignored, which would prevent the modifying effect from taking place during the PW action.
This ruling I linked to requires the reader to extrapolate what I just mentioned. The last posting asks about the tokens staying on the character after Iron Nail is KO'ed (they do) but also notes that the modifier no longer occurs because the effect is no longer active (i.e., the source of the effect was Iron Nail's trait).
So you will get to use your normal attack and damage values, but unless there's something I'm overlooking, the AoE is already determined prior to ignoring, so, though your range will go back up, the AoE will still be the same.
