Heyo, we are mid-game here, and I'm up against all 4 Shredder Elite chase figures (on the same team...! ), and I had a question regarding their shared Trait:
SHREDDER ELITE: Shiva/Mini/Shark/Claw Shredder can use Sidestep. When he moves, after actions resolve deal 1 penetrating damage to each adjacent opposing character that wasn't adjacent at the beginning of the move.
Q: Does the penetrating damage only happen during Sidestep, or on normal moving as well...?
So basically the Shredder Chases can deal penetrating damage twice per turn (after a normal move & after a Sidestep). Times this by 4 figures and that's potentially 8 times per turn that this team can dish out free penetrating damage... *ouch*
Since the free Penetrating damage part is stated right after the mentioning of Sidestep, it's confusing whether the 2 are mutually inclusive or not.
Not only does the damage potential here seem ridiculous, it's borderline disgusting...

That would be why they're expensive.
Waller KOs: AA Robin, Kid Devil, Joker, Question; AW E Cap; FCBD Iron Man; Miracle/Oberon; John Stewart x2, Iron Patriot; Shatterstar; IH Herc; CW Photon & Nitro; FF Nite Owl; 10An R Thor, E Iron Man, Weapon X; FF Kilowog; Hugo Strange; Calender Man; Legion Cosmic Boy & Lightning Lad, LE Pete Wisdom
Thanks, I get the feeling that I'm going to need all the help I can get.
Any other strategies to take down the Shredder Elite squad...?
(Edit: I guess the damage can be evaded as well, right...)
No, no it can't be.
Try these guys for some help. Plasticity in general should help, since it makes it harder for them to break away.

Also, you should be concerned about the Shredders healing.

I found that this guy was pretty fun against a team of those A-Holes.
I played him on a 500 point Defenders theme team, along with:
ADW 001 Doctor Strange (Shifting Focus)
ADW 003 Hulk
ADW 056 Moondragon + Secret Avengers ATA
WKM15-011 Doctor Strange (d20) + Secret Avengers ATA
MP17-007 Pym Pocket Tank
Secret Avengers:
Between ignoring/basing opposing characters, getting free attacks, adding action tokens, dropping the Pym Tank and most importantly, dropping that ice wall on threatening Shredders... He was definitely MVP that game.

Base them first. It's counter-intuitive but when people try and avoid them they play right into their hand. Trying to avoid multiple figs with traited side-step and indom is a losing battle.
You base them, you don't take damage unless they did the move. Force them to make a break away roll if they want that damage.

THIS.
and they only give damage if they were not adjacent to the character before the start of their movement.

This is a much more useful answer than stating which characters will work best against them (I always react this way to these answers, so I hope no one here takes personal offense, non is intended).
I say this because in my world, as crazy as it seems, when you are building your force, you have no idea what team you will be facing.
On the other hand, if you know for certainty that you will be paired with an opponent who will have SHREDDER ELITE, then you very much right with you team building strategy.
