I prefer ban lists to errata. I like to know that there is not extra documents I need to know about when playing with/against a figure vs just banning stuff that is too efficient or outright broken. This ban list was pretty comprehensive and created a fun and diverse event.
The list has been curated by many of the top players who player competitively (and quite a bit of "discussions" on what should be on the list, lol). This is the end product so far (it is "fluid"). The goal is to keep this format going and evolving, allowing for more and more players to get in if they don't want to play against just Jakeem or Uni-Mind in the foreseeable future. This format is a team-builder's paradise, IMO. It was more a hit than I had anticipated and looks to be promising.
I liked the idea wizkids did with early retirement. The piece is still legal, its just not legal in the format. So its a softer way of saying something is banned.
These teams look great and its nice to finally have some diversity. I really wish Book of the Skull and Batteries would stay gone though. Way too OP for their points.

lmao. Modern was diverse back when these resources were legal (outside of half the teams running pre nerf faust cuz lol why not at 80 pts). See the 2015 worlds championship results for example.
Strong resources enable a diverse cast to compete since they can supplement or shore up characters that have unique abilities with glaring weaknesses. You get rid of these resources and you end up with the same power pieces with few weaknesses competing like we have in modern today.
Can't have your cake and eat it too. You can either have diversity with op side elements, op characters with no op resources, or try to ban everything and something will still be comparatively op and you still end up with a lack of diversity, except now you have a new ban every month playing whack a mole on whatever is ruling the meta at that time.
