The reason that humans can hate and fear mutants when there are so many other superhumans in the world is simple - out of all sources of super powers, only mutants represent humanity's impending obsolescence.
With mutants, it's not a laboratory accident. It's not highly advanced technology. It's not hailing from an alien species or receiving a super-formula infusion or discovering a magical talisman. It's genetics. It's a quirk of genes that leads to species evolution and when that happens, which species do you think wins out? Which is Cro Magnon man and which is Homo Neanderthalis?
That's how you justify humans hating mutants in a world where superheroes exist. They can accept and tolerate and even embrace other heroes who are either freak accidents or human ingenuity. But a superhero who is essentially a spandex-wearing neon sign that says "Your extinction is impending"? They're afraid of that.

That's always been a ridiculous reason.
I know it's a metaphor for racism, but really, if the next step in human evolution was to allow you to fly or read minds (or really whatever, aside from the relatively rare "disgusting" mutations) I don't know that the overall reaction would be hate and fear. Disappointment would be more logical, especially if you missed the genetic lottery.
And then there was Broxton, which I don't think ever got the same reaction, and if people were afraid of mutants overtaking them, why wouldn't they feel the same about Norse Gods permanently settling a colony on Earth?
Wow this thread turned out better than expected usually I expect CBR levels of either insults or racist thrown to the mix. Thanks!
Oh and it seems my fears have come to past Disney now owns Fox. Great now the horrors of AvsX is becoming a reality along with that piece of garbage Deadpool.
Guess I'll be expecting the usually "where were you when the Sentinels came!?" From the X-men to overlay the victim part while treating the Avengers one sided in the argument.

Aside from the versus fights probably my main critism against the X-men in the MCU is the 'dismissiveness'.
In the crossovers of Civil War and the main event the whole mentioning "where were the Avengers with Genosha" and the exploding school bus in New X-men
Just irritates me on the ground they get to ignore the crap the Avengers had to deal with in Kang Dynasty and Ultron unlimited. As if the X-men's their pain took priority over everything else.
I get that its an easy card to create tension but honestly its cheap and it becomes tiresome when the Avengers and X-men are on the same page togethere rather than a special occasion.

FYI - They are no longer Magneto's children. Nor are they "mutants".

For what it's worth, I posted that before Disney bought out Fox.
Come to think of it, I think that the deal still has to go through the feds before it's allowed to happen.
There's still a chance the deal won't go through.
