WKM15-002 Wolfsbane, Unavoidable Damage, and 2017 Rules
UNCONTROLLED CHANGES: When Wolfsbane would take damage, roll a d6 instead. On a result of 1-2, deal damage normally. On a result of 3-4, turn her to click #3. On a result of 5, turn her to click #7. On a result of 6, turn her to click #9. If the damage is pushing damage, add 2 to the result (maximum 6). This ability can't be ignored.
If the attack roll was a physical two ([1][1]), all targets of the attack become missed, even if the attack total would normally hit one or more of the targets. This is called a critical miss. Resolve the attack and, immediately after resolutions, deal the attacker 1 unavoidable damage. (Rulebook, page 15)
Unavoidable damage is a type of damage dealt that can’t be reduced or prevented from being dealt or taken by any effect. (Rulebook, page 16)

In 2015, it was ruled on this forum that Wolfsbane could roll against a Critical Miss due to the past wording of Unavoidable Damage. However, the Rulebook's wording of Unavoidable Damage has changed to the above excerpt from page 16.
To me, it looks like Rahne is subject to taking a Critical Miss or other forms of Unavoidable Damage now instead of being allowed to roll out of it with Uncontrolled Changes. Is this correct?
If it is not correct, what specific condition of her ability still allows the roll against damage?
Her effect does not actually reduce or prevent the damage. It replaces it with a d6 roll. That was the whole reason it worked before, which should still be the case. The current wording of Unavoidable doesn't really change that. It's entirely possible that this is not intended under the new rules, though. Fortunately, she's still Modern Age, so the WIN should answer the question.
Her power says when she would take damage. Pushing, mystics, unavoidable, mastermind, etc. Any kind of damage triggers her trait. Anything that involves the word “damage.” If it said just turn her dial 1 click after a critical miss, that’d be different.
Well, they chopped up my post (omitting the section about critical misses), but here's the answer:
No. Unavoidable damage cannot be avoided. She would take the damage and not roll for her effect (since she must take the damage "instead" of doing something else).
"A Jester unemployed is nobody's fool." - The Court Jester "And so he says, I don't like the cut of your jib, and I go, I says it's the only jib I got, baby!
don't see it, the figure isn't avoiding anything, it is just turning the dial differently. but hey, I won't ever play a game with this figure with wizkids so meh.

Thanks for posting the question and following through with letting us know the answer.
Now, if they'd only answer the Sulu Chase question!!

No kidding. Well, hopefully, the delay means that they realize it actually is an issue and they're working on errata for it (which usually takes some time because of back-and-forth with design).
That, or it's going to turn into another Iceman/Zombie Abe situation, and it just gets ignored forever.

I wouldn't use her before, either... too easy to kill herself with bad rolls.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
