Hey,
I'm a newer player, but a really significant amount of the events I see run have different build rules. One thing I think that would be pretty simple and make a lot of difference is adding 2 more ages other than Golden and Modern. There are two significant era's that are also referenced in game place, Carded figures (silver age) and Oreo Bases (roc age). And because these are era's there is no rotation, and thus no upkeep needed in maintaining changes of these sets. I would love to see these added as search options too. Thanks!

Neither of those are official, and also are ill-defined (especially on Silver Age).
I've completed collecting the IC, CT, XP, CM, Ult, MM, FF, AW, Sin, SN, AVE, M&M, SI, HoT, WoS, GSX, CA, IH, GG, AVM, CW, M10th, ASM, IM3, WK11-16, FI, WX, T:DW, CA:WS, IIM, DoFP, DP, GotG, AoUM, AoU, AVAS NFAoS, CACW, UXM, SFoes, DXF, GotG2, ADW, WI, MT T:RM, AI SW:B, EX, ABPI and X:DPAS sets.
Looking to get PR Professor X (W/X-Men) and pre-release "IC" Wolverine.
And ROC age is everything from Superman forward. Because of how databases work, it would actually require upkeep as every new set would need to be added to it and when they were rotated to Golden, they would need to be kept in ROC.
Of course, ROC age is fairly easy to search and as Celestial points out, Silver varies from venue to venue.
I don't think this is a workable suggestion (compared to many others).

Which is why I stated oreo base and post carded figures, as emphasis over the other two terms you both used. Both are eras in the game, which are easily definable, and when a new set comes out, you would simply need to add these two as well as "modern" and "golden" which doesn't seem terrible time intensive since you're already putting two filter terms in.
Now I have no insight in the figure database, but I assume that the "Ages" programming is a toggle (on/ off) (Golden/ Modern).
If that's the case, it's super unfortunate, but I really hope these get added, and I just don't think anyone has spoken up about it because there are so few people involved in the game as it is. I personally would find it extremely helpful.
Silver Age varies drastically given its unofficial nature.
Some venues don't use any form of Silver Age at all.
Some define it as carded figures, but how far back do you go? Carded figures came about in the Legion of Super Heroes starter and in Avengers (2007). You could argue that the HorrorClix-crossover figures of the Hellboy and BPRD box and the 4 Marvel Zombies chases should count, although those cards for those figures don't matter one iota in HeroClix.
Some venues might say that Silver Age only counts for cards done in the "new style" with the black bordering and the dials on the back. Some venues might say that Silver Age means "everything Golden Age, except no Event Dials or Battlefields, and Feats can only go on pre-carded figures." Some venues might say that Silver Age means "Golden Age without currently supported outside game elements (i.e. no Feats, Battlefields, Event Dials, original 3-D objects, Ultra Heavies, Ultra Lights, Relics, etc.)."
It's simply too much to even nail down what the term means in casual communications. Trying to apply a locked idea of it to a set of filters that might or might not match up one venue's definition of said term is impossible.
As for ROC Age (this Oreo-based setup that's mentioned), it might be able to work, but, simply put, what's stopping someone from doing a Golden Age search and just not scrolling down past the Superman set where Oreo bases came out? Minimizing coding time and efforts, which could be botched in the attempt by mistake (remember the concerns about coding the new Star Trek Away Team set team abilities that were similarly named but differently set up from the original Star Trek team abilities already in the system), can be a crucial time saver and mistake preventer.

You shouldn't get stuck up on the term, "Silver Age" or "Roc Age" as previously mentioned. The eras in the game are what's relevant. Cards with figures, Oreo Bases, and eventually Dials on the backs of the cards should be search filters. It shouldn't be a matter of time indexing new sets. I would be happy to donate time, if I knew I could do it and it could be done.

I don't think either of these are really needed, but it would be entirely possible to set these up in a way that wouldn't require set by set upkeep. Assuming each set has it's own id, all you'd have to do is make a collection of the sets not in the age and append a query argument that they are not in that defined set. Wouldn't have to be more than a single update.

But ROC age is relatively easy to search already, and carded is similar if you just know the set cut offs.
There's only two "ages" in Wizkids rules, so that's where the allocation of resources should go to.
As far as I can see, the rule-book doesn't reference any "ages" other than Modern, neither does the "Tournament rules" either. But neither of that is relevant to a searchable database.
How many years should pass before there is another "age" added to the game?
