I have had a hard time finding current rulings for "past rules" stuff, and I am unsure how some things work. If I ran a golden age team with Infinity Gauntlet S#101, can I also use a feat card? For example Shellhead?
Also, I can't remember how feats worked, is the prerequisite just indicate what figure can be assigned the feat or does a standard power in the prerequisite have to be showing on the dial in order for the feat to be used? For example, if Shellhead was assigned to a character that had toughness on its first click but toughness was either outwitted or it has taken damage and no longer has a defense ability can it still use shellhead?
Does the IG #101 count as a special object? If it is on my force am I still able to place 2 light object and 1 heavy?
There was never a restriction on using feats or BFCs with resources as far as I remember.
Also, again if memory serves, all of the feats and BFCs were retired before the first resource appeared so it was never an issue in Wizkids' eyes, anyway.
As far as prerequisites go, they have to be showing in order for the feat to be usable unless otherwise noted.
Brilliant Tactician is a typical example of this; It requires that the character have both outwit and perplex, but only perplex needs to show on the dial in order to use the feat.
As far as someone countering a prerequisite goes, the last rules we had on feats say that countered powers do not meet the standard as a prerequisite.
So going back to the Shellhead feat, with impervious, invulnerability, or toughness as a prerequisite, if I am playing this guy...
… Then his traited invulnerability will qualify him for the feat, but if his invulnerability is countered then Shellhead won't be usable at that time.
A character only has to meet the prerequisites for a Feat at the time they are going to use it. If the prerequisite is a power, they only need to be able to use that power, is does not need to be "showing on their dial". Any character can be assigned any Feat. Feats can be played with Resources. The Gauntlet is a Resource, not a Special Object. And yes, all Feats are Print-and-Play.
Also, always check with the Judge beforehand to make sure you know how they're handling Feats. Honestly, they're something most people don't understand well, since they haven't been supported in many years, and most people never bother with them. I would suggest at least downloading the old 2014 rulebook from Heroclix.com and having the section on Feats available for reference.
Brilliant Tactician isn't a great example to use. It was never updated to work under the last iteration of the rules for Feats. The Outwit prerequisite on it is now functionally meaningless, since prerequisites are only checked on use, and the game has no way to check for it (I've gone over this in threads in the past).
So going back to the Shellhead feat, with impervious, invulnerability, or toughness as a prerequisite, if I am playing this guy...
… Then his traited invulnerability will qualify him for the feat, but if his invulnerability is countered then Shellhead won't be usable at that time.
Following that example (the traited invuln was a good reason to use him as an example), the symbols on feats are very important... Shellhead gives +2 (not +2) so Cap would have 17 DV (plus ES/D and CR) on his first click when he has 2 tokens, plus 2 ... those 2 stats don't mix so it would be useless on him in particular.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????

This exactly. I played at a venue around WoL where one player used the LE Kyle, the Nurse construct (either through the Lantern or via his trait), and Automatic Regeneration (a feat that lets you use Regen for free at the start of the turn)... so he would hit the stop click (or just past it on subsequent hits), Regen for free above the stop click, and be almost impossible to take out.
After he did this multiple times in a 2 month span, the venue house ruled that feats were only usable on non- carded figures. I also used that example to make a house rule in my venue that feats couldn't be activated from 3rd parties (so the figure had to be able to use the power on their own, not from a resource, entity, etc). Both house rules worked to stem the abuse but both were house rules so it's best to ask.

Okay, that's what I get for not looking at feats, but I know that a prerequisite doesn't have to be there to assign a feat and never said it did. Usable is not the same as assigned.
And yes, I realize that there are ways to gain other powers that might allow a character to make use of a feat that there were assigned, but if they gain the powers then they have a usable feat, so again, what was the problem?

Game mechanics built in vacuums that would never be made in the same era that lead to such abusive combos that people don't show up.
Just look at the Kyle Rayner example. Anyone that plays that is a dink. Any judge that allows that shouldn't be a judge (outside of some special scenario).

Exactly. There are slightly abusive combos like DoFP Wolverine with traited regen and putting automatic regeneration on him, there are insane combos like the Kyle example, and then there are intended combos where they are used on powers displaying on the dial.
Personally, I like to use the "super abusive combos" only on overly obsolete figures. For example, I used the HT "big figure" Sinestro at 300 points (which was fairly bad when he was made and could be beaten by 50- 100 points of good modern figures), gave him Nul's Hammer (giving him WP to avoid damage from an action every turn per his special rules and 13 AV on his courtesy click), Shellhead (giving him 19 DV on his first click after he had 2 tokens), and other figures to make it a themed team in a 600 point game... still not really worth his points, but it made him a scarier target that nobody could take down instead of a joke that everyone avoided.

Which is exactly why I tell people that if they're going to allow Feats, period, broken interactions should be the expectation. If people don't want to deal with stuff like an Auto Regening Kyle, or my personal favorite of Auto Regen/Camouflage/Yellow Battery TW Black Adam and The Outsider, then just don't allow Feats, period. This is why I only do full on, anything goes Golden Age games once or twice a year, and everyone knows well in advance. Stupid busted stuff is fun once in a while, but the vast majority of players aren't going to want to deal with it on a regular basis.

Wow... that's just brutal. Wow. That's the kind of crap I would never think of, but I can see that being super effective and hard to beat short of a strong Superman (over 270 points).

Indeed. The trick was to give Outsider the Wall to provide Adam terrain for Camouflage, while also pushing himself to death by Probbing:
Quote
A DIFFERENT KIND OF BUTLER: When a friendly character uses Probability Control and an action token would be assigned as a result, you may deal The Outsider 1 unavoidable damage instead.
So that Adam's trait kicks in:
Quote
YOU WILL PAY: If Black Adam is the only character on your force that has not been KO'd, modify his attack value by +1. If Black Adam is the only character on your force that has not been KO'd and your force is a named themed team, instead modify all of Black Adam's combat values by +1.
Of course, when I played it, Outsider could still copy Mystics from Adam. Obviously, the new rules nerf the entire team.
Although, come to think of it, Auto Regen never came into play. The games were generally over before Adam even got hit, let alone needed to Regen.
Yeah, I've used the 2 figures before and read their powers to refresh my memory and to see if I was thinking straight... just devious.
