I love this Mongul, (though I'd still like to see a new, regular one) I think he would be a tank in a 400 point game with the DC 75th Sinestro. An exact 400 point team (that sadly doesn't make theme bonus) but still a powerhouse. Great figure.
Worldsfinest, yeah that was my intent, as a counter to Darkseid. Mongul forces the opponent to move all of his mastermind fodder up on their own (or at least not carried by Darkseid), otherwise he gives up the MM click by carrying and phasing.
This is a good piece, although he goes down very quickly. His Leadership special is incredible as with how it is worded, he can take tokens off of himself, along with removing a token off of characters with a lower point value. So if you roll his Leadership well, this character can be a gamebreaker. Otherwise, it's just a few to many points into on character who drops like a rock after his first 3 clicks. My suggestion is to use him with a Sinestro Corps team in a 500+ point game as a ranged attacker/Leadership/support piece. The TK and Perplex from his Sinestro Corp buddies will give him a devestating first attack. But you must also be patient to get him into position when using Mongul, because of his downhill slope from his first click to his last.
WIN/LOSS: 6-3 This Mongul is very pricey considering his power set. No Move and Attack to start, this means he requires a friendly TKer to help him. No Willpower and poor design makes pushing quite punishing. His anti-Phasing is interesting in today's environment with point denial figures ending with high-movement phasing but at 176, those points are better spent on 2 other figures. It will be cool if he gets remade.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
