When I got up this morning, I turned on the Today Show while getting ready for work, and all they talked about was what a fashion Icon Kate is now. They were making a big deal that she has worn about 3 or 4 of her dresses more than once in public, usually several months apart, so that makes her very in tune with us common folk (no I don't have any dresses). And she is doing it with very affordable dresses that only cost $300-$500 each. This during a worldwide economic downturn when so many people are having trouble feeding their children.
Usually I care very little about other people's body image, unless I'm looking for companionship. Your style is your style. But while hawking her as such a role model, I couldn't help but notice that she has gotten anorexic looking, I mean so skinny. I know in earlier pictures, she appeared a pretty girl with a normal build. But now I have a hard time seeing her as a role model.
Yes, I am from the US, so forgive me if I am stepping on Royal toes, but a friggin role model and fashion icon?
To see my extended thoughts, look below.

He hazes the crippled and wears socks with sandals. I'd say he's more of a "dare to be different" kinda guy.
And we love him for it...most of the time. When he isn't burning down orphanages.

Well the Queen is our head of state, but she's represented by the Governor General federally and the Lieutenant Governor provincially. So really, she doesn't have much power (thankfully).
The reason Canadians are making such a friggin hullabaloo about this is because our government is funding their little voyage, at the taxpayers expense no less. And what a lot of people are upset about? Toronto (my hometown) was left off the agenda of visited cities. Why? Because our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, is from out west in Alberta and doesn't LIKE Toronto, so as a way of giving Torontonians the finger, he conveniently left Toronto off of their schedule. Now personally, I couldn't give less of a ####, but I'm still really ####ing pissed that my tax dollars are going to fund the vacation of people who are probably some of the last on earth who need a free ride. This is all part of Harper's "wise spending of taxpayers' money" agenda. Is he ####ing kidding? Instead of putting that money to good use, like say, cleaning up the pollution in Lake Ontario (where hundreds of companies just deposit their waste), fixing the homeless problems in our major cities, trying to spend money on more environmentally friendly energy means (since global warming is, you know, melting the polar ice caps right above us) or even, gee I dunno, trying to reduce the deficit in the federal budget, he's spending probably a few million dollars to give these two a tour of Canada.
Sorry, but if the British wanna put up with this, that's their business, but we're not in Britain, we're in Canada, and if you're coming to my country, I have a say, and my say is that I don't want to pay for the vacation of total strangers who are garnering way more media attention than they deserve or need.
The Ever Growing Trickster and Pied Piper KO List!
U Ganthet, Labcoat Beast, Cap and Bucky
Not removing this until we get Clock King and The Rose-01/23/11
Come on, NECA-Marvel Horror Theme Set 2011!
I already have two with another on the way. Plus I think TaT has one for me which would make a grand total of four HCR shirts and two Ogre shirts for me. That's pretty much all I plan on wearing (well, that and pants) for Gencon...
...which speaking of, I can now breathe easily as I now have both my Gencon badge and event tickets bought and paid for! IT'S JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!!!

I heard someone mention that they had 36 tickets for Gen Con events or something like that. What does that mean? Why wouldn't you just register for the event ahead of time and then show up there to play? Why do you need even tickets?
And do you have your Gen Con badge paid for or did you mean in your possession? If its the latter, how did you get it so soon in advance? Doesn't anyone just line up the day of to get in?

You need tickets to do things at Gencon, I guess they don't take cash at the booths or something...sort of like a carnival

Yikes! I did not know that. When I go to Yahoo Canada, it is plagued with royalty stuff. Usually it has interesting bits of information.
Good luck with the long struggle and attempted regicide.

I have only paid for my badge. I do not have it in hand. I will have to pick it up on the Thursday of Gencon at "Will Call."
They do it this way with the tickets (Of which I purchased 35) so that you don't HAVE TO pre-register for events. You don't have to worry about buying into anything and being late or not showing up at all for events that you have signed up for. You merely walk up to the place/event/game you want to play, present your tickets to the coordinator and then you begin the event. NO HASSLE !!!!

It's some kind of deal that they have worked out with the convention owners or something that doesn't allow any money to exchange hands between the players and Wizkids specifically. That's why we buy tickets from the convention owners and then give the tickets to wizkids.

The only hassle is realizing that you did not order enough tickets. That is why it is a good idea to order more than you think you need or double check the "price" of each thing you want to do.
Also remember that for some events there is limited seating. Buying a ticket to that specific event is your way in without being on a wait list and hope that some people do not show up.
