52.69% are happy there are no chase figures, so statistically it's a wash based on the poll. And that's from the HCRealms community, which would have a much higher percentage of folks that either want everything or "need" particular figures. I think the perception that the community was, overall, unhappy with chase figures is not correct.
I can guarantee that EVERY player at my venue will be happy that there are no chase figs. I'm the only regular poster here, a couple of others post rarely, most don't know or don't care if HCRealms exists.
Most of the guys at my venue aren't the "gotta have it all types", but I can't tell you how disappointed those players are when their favorite character is Batman and Lamppost Bats ends up being a chase or their favorite character is Iron Man and Thorbuster ends up a chase.
This decision will make the players here locally very, very happy.

I am so happy there are no chases. I bought a presale C-SR collection for 200$ when rumors started, before everyone knew 61-64 aren't chases and for once I was lucky, the same collection is 300$ now.

I just wanted to point out that ~52% where happy about the lack of chases, and only ~15.5% where sad. Which I wouldn't call a wash. (~31% were indifferent.)
I just thought only saying 52% were happy is misleading, it suggests that 48% were not, which then would be a wash.
I do agree about your point that the poll is likley bias concidering the type of clix player the website attracts. I wouldn't put much stock in those kinda polls reguardless.
I like the idea of chases. I am sad because now chases I want will be harder to trade for. Especially my last two black lanterns I am trying to get.
There is a good chance the WoS SRs will be high enough in value that you can trade 2 or 3 for a chase and have it be even. If the first 2 bricks posted on the Realms are the standard (4 SRs per brick, 1 SR taking a Rare slot)the odds of getting any one SR will be the same as before, yet still be worth more than in a set with Chases.
It's okay man. It's not your fault. No, really it's not your fault man.
The most important thing to point out in regards to the casual player is that the odds that they can trade their duplicate SR (or 2) for a different SR that they still need/want is MUCH higher than if they were trying to trade for a chase. Chases skew the value of SRs so hard that you have to go 4 or 5 SRs to 1 Chase if trading by Average Selling Price.
Knowing the players at my venue, I know that a lot of these SRs will be desired by at least one if not more players. The cross-section of villians, heroes, and obscure (Alt Spideys) is nicely balanced.
I understand the trading SRs part, but there are two counter-points: A) The odds of getting the SRs you want are lower so you'll NEED to trade more ... and B) the odds of anyone having a duplicate of the SR you need are lower too. In that way trading SRs will be harder.
Of course chase figures skewed the trades between rarities, but that's a different issue. For those that needed a specific chase figure, it is most certainly better that there are none.

Then we're just from different places. At my venue, with one exception, there isn't anyone who has to have every figure including chases and even LEs. We're very casual overall, and they are not disappointed when they don't get chases, and are extremely happy when they do. They tend to be very excited to have one, have made them display pieces at home, and then often trade them in for a whole slew of stuff if it's a chase they don't want, or if they are tired of playing it and want new stuff.
So overall I'd guess the majority have enjoyed Chase figures. That's probably why I tend to favor them. The folks who buy a few boosters at a time have that "jackpot" opportunity, with a 1/3 chance at SRs also.

Fair enough. I just really feel that there is an assumption around here that almost everyone, most, a vast majority, or something like that, hate chase figures. I just don't think it's true.
The most important factor for Wizkids is which system sells the most boosters, which is another conversation entirely. That's what will really determine whether we continue to see them.

Absolutely true. There are probably 5 WoS SRs that will be worth low level chase figures straight up.

Whether you plan to stick it to the man or not, you really should contact them and make sure you're getting what you expect. It's going to cost over $300 at wholesale booster cost for resellers to put together a 1-64 set, and there won't be leftover chase figures to subsidize the cost. Smaller dealers will also have a very hard time filling sets. Even when they were 60 figure sets with 12 SRs I regularly had only 1 set after opening 10 cases because of a single SR that would come up low. Now that there are 16, with random distribution, there could easily be problems putting together sets.
For those of you that buy a few cases and sell off the extras, how does this announcement affect you? Will you still be in the re-selling market in the same way? Increase case purchases? Decrease case purchases?

I like chase pieces. The happy median for chases in a set is not 4 nor is it none. It should be 2. 2 chase figures allow for most people who buy a case or brick to get at least one while also allowing them the option to try and acquire the last one through trade or purchase to complete their set.
People need an incentive to buy more product when they already have everything and chase figures bring this to the table. Chase figures also allow for the people with money who buy a case or two to recoup the majority of their money by selling that chase in the secondary market.
Just as in real life you will always have the poor complain as well as the rich. The poor don't want figures that require them to buy multitudes of boosters/brick/cases nor do they want to buy it on the secondary market. The "rich" or people who in this case have a disposable income have no problem buying a case when the set comes out and selling their doubles or chases on the secondary market. It also allows for the person with disposable income to "gamble" by buying more packs to get the one chase figure he needs, thus wizkids sells more product.
This is why I vote 2 chases pieces from here on out as it should appease the poor and rich heroclix players alike. There is a perfect median between both sides of the argument and that median is 2 chases per set!
Me, personally I will miss chases, while I have only pulled one I like the idea of them. As I once said though, do not make the chases your core figures, make them cool niche pieces in the set.
Captain Carrot, Nuff Said.
I live in Canada but still wanna trade!
finally, WKids admits (sortof) that chase figures were WRONG!!!!
16 SRs....I am buying a case
4 chases???? it is nothing but a few singles that I must have
you treat us right WKids, you will get treated right in return
chase figures were always wrong, now they are a thing of the past
I don't think that Wizkids is admiting anything. They are trying somethign different. They do it all the time. I would not assume anythign about future sets based on this one. Also I dont think that chases where ever 'wrong'. At best a person could argue they were 'less preferable' to different arrangements.
But for the most part, the more dials, the merrier. However they come.

so from what your saying. we should have chases so that the ppl with more money will be able to buy lots of stuff and not feel bad because they can just sell it right back?? how does this sound ok at all?? how does more sr's not do the same thing? it's a shame that a game like heroclix is reduced a 'get rich quick scheme'' by some folks. it's not what the game was made for. why is it so hard for ppl to just enjoy something wonderful just as it is??
