That is a little unfair considering that everyone in this game is sort of a mini mafia if I understand correctly.

Meh, not gonna bother defending myself, after the recent railroading I suffered at the Syndicate, I am very unmotivated in fighting anything in mafia. If someone could do me a favor and kill my second persona tonight, that would be swell.

Hybridity X wrapped up what I think of as the previous 'cycle' with a giant battle in the land of the dead. After all was said and done, Michael the Archangel was revealed as trying to use "The Hybridity Gems" to usurp his father's place as God, I think. Wineskin (a long-running character who was an immensely powerful witch) basically stopped him by threatening to dump the Gems into a portal to another dimension. Michael retreated. Wineskin then said "I'm tired of this place" and went through the portal herself, along with another called The Naga. Meanwhile 7 other folks decided they had to stop Michael and banded together.
Also Wineskin took two of the gems and dumped them into the new world, while the other seven battled Kallum who held the other gems.

So then Hybridity XI kicked off a new cycle, with Wineskin and Naga (now going by Red and Scion) dropped into the city of Helotham. This big pirate guy (Captain Cain?) was on his way, and people wanted to get onto his boat to go... adventuring or something. After a lot of fighting, a handful of people (Major Frost, Krypto the Dog, Red, and Scion) set off on the boat.
Actually, they took The Drake which was Major Frost's boat. Then Red kicked Major Frost off it, and he vowed revenge.
Scion meanwhile took Captain Cain's boat for himself, and with Ragnar he sailed all the way to what he thought was the mystical city of Providence.
But it was Metax, Sineater's original home and where he kept Providence. Her blood was extracted to help in the creation of various things. Scion is the one that broke her out.

Hybridity XII took place on the island of Lantus, a hidden place for mutants (who are banned elsewhere). Again, much fighting, and Caesar the psychic gorilla brainwashed some guys and started a mutant uprising basically. Meanwhile we found out that a guy called Nate Sineater was super evil and turning people into powerful artifacts. He turned Red into a staff. Between XI and XII we also found out the 7 who had banned together in X were the super-powerful rulers of this world, called The Endless.

Hybridity XIII focused on a council of the Endless to decide what to do. Meanwhile, Caesar and his band tries to assassinate them. After a bunch of b.s. from Skarn (

) they all died and Sineater broke in and kidnapped one of the Endless, Dani. Another, Gangles, vowed to rescue her, despite being at odds with the third to attend the meeting, Afterthought. The others no-showed.

Then this game started with Providence (aka Necross from Hybridity X) being very angry at everybody because Sineater had kept her imprisoned for like a thousand years. Also Michael kept her imprisoned in X. Sineater looks like he's turning Dani into an artifact, and he also has another one of them (Blind Justice). So Providence is trying to kill everybody, Gangles is trying to rescue Dani from Sineater, (using the Justice League) Afterthought and Gangles are mad at each other, Sineater is trying to capture the other Endless, and the followers of the other Endless are here too. Oh, plus the martial artists of Dragon City and its ruler The Dragon. I think that's everybody.

Now you know all the important bits. The Hybridity House is also a great resource.
