I have played Fiends but I am not way an expert like Des,Squid, the grandmaster Waldo himself, and a bunch of other ppl...
I dunno if its been mentioned but ever tried Reshef? I think it would have been perfect with Zorc IF he wasnt a LIGHT type! The only prob I have with Relinquished in a Fiend Ritual Deck is the fact that it cant synchronize too well with Zorc coz of its level.
As for the new Dark Realm Monsters, I think they're awesome, and they even have their own discard engine too (in Monster form, forgot its name)
Yeah, the theory here is that if Reshef were a Dark monster then it would be too easy to run Zorc, The Masked Beast, Reshef and maybe Relinquished thrown in for fun since all you'd need is Contract with the Abyss.
By the way guys, doesn't look like anyone noticed we just hit the Summoned Skull mark. Go Fiends!
In your example let's say that your oppenent had a second spell/trap(Waboku).
1. You've succesfully dumped your entire hand onto the field.
2. Next turn your oppenent summons a Tribe Infecting Virus and declares fiends.
If 7/10 duels are identical to your example, the Dark Realm monsters are as unstable as a FTK. I prefer to slowly put my oppenent into a situation where I can take the win. Overextending on the first turn is far too risky.
Card of Safe Return is an excellent method to replenish your resources, but the chances that you will get one in every opening hand aren't 100%.
It's definately possible to tone down the speed of the deck and to play more conservatively. Doing so would increase the stability and win percentage of the deck.
For further analysis, do you mind sharing your build with us waldo?
P.S. I think it would be interesting to hyrbid this deck's capability of swarming with Goblin King.
Des has a valid point. My BEWD deck tends to overextend itself setting up the Field for the White Dragon, and if you run a Dark Realm deck the way you're describing, waldo, that's overextension all the way.
I would say, only ever go for that instant kill if you're lucky enough to get both an adequate piece of monster removal and S/T removal in your opening hand, otherwise, the more conservitist approach that Des recommends is clearly better.
Well, of course. Hyper-Extending is never a bad idea, but if it's going to win the game, why not?
I normallly NEVER play more than 3 cards in a turn. EVER! But if it's going to finsih the duel, I'll use every card, Life Point and resource I possibly can.
But basically, I'm just warning people. This deck swarms, but does so from the graveyard (a la Gravekeepers), and therefore uses little resources from your hand.
For Example, in Graceful Charity and Thunder of Dark Realm, you have TWO cards which require a discard effect. Now, which Grafeful Charity, you still draw 3 cards and you still discard 2, but if those 2 are the right Dark Realm monsters, you've also Special Summoned monsters to the field, thanks to Graceful Charity.
Thunder of Dark Realm can be both Monster AND S/T removal, since it just says destroy a facedown card. So now you've increased both your S/T removal and Monster Removal count by 3. And we all know what I say about cards with multiple uses, right?
Proxy the deck and try it for yourselves, I'm telling you, you'll understand then.

So praise me for learning so well when I'm right and blame THEM for screwing up when I'm wrong. (More people will be added to this list as needed) "
GO Rescue Kitty!!! Claw their eyes out!!! 53 One Turn Kills (Including First Turn Kills)
19 First Turn Kills
65 Sheep Tokens trampled for over 3000 Damage each
10 Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning removed from play
1 Black Luster Soldier (Ritual) removed from play
11 Jinzos Removed from play
K, I've been out of the game all together for a while....it really sucks when two jobs coincide on Fridays and your tourneys are Saturday mornings.
Anywho, I'm getting back into it after a few month hiatus, and I'm wondering if I can ask a few questions?
1) What is a good current build for Traditional format fiends (no Archfiend theme, don't have any)?
2) What is a good current build for Advanced format fiends (same, no Arch)?
3) Rescue Cat? Is that a dck you're using that had those stats "53 FTK's etc"? What does that deck look like?
4) When is thre release date for CRV (Sorry if it's already passed), and are there any good fiends in it?
5) Does the upcoming October 1st limited/restricted card list change have anything in sotre for fiend decks, either good or bad?
Ha! that is what I was thinking of, Des. Goblin King. It sounds easy to make sure whenever it hits the field that it gets an immediate 1000-2000 attack.
My own tendency would be to only discard and summon up to 2 monsters per turn. If, and only if, the backfield of my opponent was empty and I wouldnt have to worry about Torrential Tribute, Needle Ceiling (which has become popular thanks to Scapegoat), and a host of others would I swarm fully. Even a Cyber Jar could hurt you severely.
Speaking of Jars: Waldo, as the everpresent innovator, surely you know what would happen to your swarm if I were to side deck in my 2-3 Morphing Jar #2?:D (If I remember correctly, you used to keep this little sucker handy in one of your Archfiend builds)
I hope some of the lime green parts answer what you are looking for. Welcome back to the game and have fun. Hope to see you around frequently.

1) What is a good current build for Traditional format fiends (no Archfiend theme, don't have any)?Hmm, been a while for that one. A simple, straightforward beatdown approach could work. But in traditional, you are running into some heavy hitters. My own back in the day, was a Necrofear build with 2 Blue Ladies and 1 Dark Ruler, 1 Mesfit.
2) What is a good current build for Advanced format fiends (same, no Arch)?choices abound. I think that the fiend influence here is well adaptable to many hybrid type decks. if you have just read the above few posts on the Dark Realm monsters, you will see what many of us will be experimenting with soon. From what is currently available, I am mostly wanting to try out the Giant Kokazy. If you are not that familiar with all things Fiend, then that may be pushing it. Start with the more basic monsters.
3) Rescue Cat? Is that a deck you're using that had those stats "53 FTK's etc"? What does that deck look like?Rescue Cat is the card around which a new OTK/FTK deck style has emerged. Fast, very affordable to put together. I never found enough Milus Radiant myself to put one together. But, you can search Rescue Cat out in the Deck Depot and find loads of info on it. I have Waldo's deck list here, but without his permission I can't give it out. 'Sides, he's probably changed it since my save.
4) When is thre release date for CRV (Sorry if it's already passed), and are there any good fiends in it?Just was released this last week, if Im not mistaken, in the US. Sorry, I live in Guatemala, so Im not 100% certain of the actual date, other than it is out now.
5) Does the upcoming October 1st limited/restricted card list change have anything in sotre for fiend decks, either good or bad? That is what we shall have to wait and see.
But basically, I'm just warning people. This deck swarms, but does so from the graveyard (a la Gravekeepers), and therefore uses little resources from your hand.
I know it's a little early to guess rulings, with only a rough translation available, but since waldo10032 brought up "Gravekeepers", I have to wonder would the "Dark Realm" fiends still work with "Necrovalley" active? (Note: I did look it up in the "Rules of Dueling" forum, but I guess I was looking in the wrong places.)
General Mesfit:
Yes they would. Or, at least from what we have seen of the text, they would. The effects of Gold and Silver are working on themselves, not targetting anything else in the Graveyard. Therefore, Necrovalley would not prevent it. It is similar to how Vampire Lord and Sinister Serpent work with Necrovalley.
edit:
Flashback:
sorry. Blue Lady is what I have been calling Dark Necrofear since forever. Except in Spanish, in which case I call her "La Bruja Azul" (the blue witch). Its part of the obsession. Gren Maju is the Red Lotus Beast and the Dark Ruler is Master. ;)
another edit:
Deck Devastation Virus isnt quite the end all. However, Fiends hold an amazing arsenal to abuse with this trap.
Giant Orc
Terrorking Archfiend
Giant Kokazy
Goblin King
those are basics, but you can tech out with Winged Minions and such, Snatch your opponent's Dark monster, use any power up, and then there are the Tribute Fiends.
So.. if you decide to attempt the simple straight Fiend Beatdown, I would say that DDV can have a very prominent place in your line up.
Speaking of Jars: Waldo, as the everpresent innovator, surely you know what would happen to your swarm if I were to side deck in my 2-3 Morphing Jar #2?:D (If I remember correctly, you used to keep this little sucker handy in one of your Archfiend builds)
You're right. MJ#2 and his crooked teeth smile has a warm spot in my heart. Now, as rude as it may seem, I'll answer your question with a question:
If you had a deck with 4 Level 5 monsters who are Special Summoned;
1) How many Metamorphosis wouold you run?
2) What is the best Fusion monster in the game? (HINT: Level 5 Fiend)
Oh and I don't mind giving out my Rescue Kitty deck:
Monsters (21)
3 Rescue Cat
3 Milus Radiant
3 Gyaku-Gire Panda
3 Des Wombat
3 D.D. Crazy Beast
Spells (17)
3 Last Will
3 Giant Trunade
3 Wild Nature's Release
2 Reload
Pot of Greed
Graceful Charity
Premature
2 Level Limit - Area B
united We Stand
Traps (5)
2 Gravity Bind
2 Beast Soul Swap
Call of The Haunted
I'm thinking of replacing the "Reload"s with "Pot of Generosity", but I'm still not too sure.
With United We Stand, I now have a 12,000+ ONE-HIT-KILL in this deck.
I've actually done this and everyone at my store winced when they saw it:
Player: You win the coin toss so...
Waldo: YOU go first
Player: O...K...I set 1 face-down monster and 1 face-down card and end My turn.
Waldo: I'll draw. Main Phase 1. Giant Trunade?
Player: I'll chain Scapegoat
Waldo: Why do people keep DOING that?!?!?
Player: Ha Ha!!
Waldo: Last Will. Summon and tribute Rescue Cat
Search for 2 Milus Radiant and Last Will summons Rescue Cat. I'll tribute Rescue Cat to summon 1 Milus Radiant and 1 Gyaku Gire Panda:
3 Milus Radiants (1800ATK each) + Gyaku Gire Panda (800ATK + 1500ATK from Milus Radiants + 2500ATK for 5 monsters on the opponent's side of the field = 4800)
Equip the Panda with United (4800/1600 + 3200ATK + 3200DEF = 8000ATK/4800DEF)
Wild Nature's Release on the Panda (Add the DEF value to the ATK value = 8000 + 4800 = 12,800ATK/4800DEF)
Waldo: Panda attacks one of your Sheep Tokens for 12,800?
Player: O.O
If I would've had a 2nd Trunade, I could've return United to my hand, RE-Equip it to Panda to add ANOTHER 3200ATK/3200DEF for and even 16,000ATK/3200DEF
My Hand was:
Giant Trunade
Last Will
Rescue Cat
Wild Nature's Release
United We Stand
Des Wombat <---freaking womabt!
What I like best about this deck: It can kill in ONE second. no matter how many Life Points you have left, it can devastate.
What I hate the most about this deck: The longer the duel goes by, the most Rescue Cat options you lose. Also, it runs out of monsters quickly.
By the way, I just need you all to welcome the newest emembers of the fiend family. First, Gravekeeper's Assailant and Warrior of Zera reverted to the Dark Side. Dark Ruler saw enough of the abuse and disrespect they got whiile they were Warriors.
Dark Ruler: Why let them do that to you? Just make "A Deal With me" and i promise you, we'll treat you good. Look at Ready to Counterattack, and Attack on GHQ. That Captain of yours doesn't really love you very much. ALL the warriors are war-mongers. In Double Attack, Warriors are picking on plants, in Staunch Defender it's the Zombies, in Battle-Scarred by little brother Terrorking had to neuter him. Heck, we LOVE the way you guys work. And you're Goblins. Look at almost all the OTHER Goblins. They saw that the Dark side is the Fun side. OK, how's this? Let me prove it to you. What would you like to have? ANYTHING you want, Dark Ruler can get for you!
Goblin: Well, we no like getting beat up while we sleep. But Captain say armor expesive and Goblin no wear armor. He call us stupid.
Dark Ruler: He did?!?!? WEll you're not Stupid. Afterall, you're here trying to improve yourself, right? How strong is Marauding Captain? 1200ATK? Well, then, how's this? I'll give you armor. STRONG armor. Of course, you'll move a liiiitle bit slower from the extra weight, so expect to lose a measly 100ATK points. I'll have Mefist train you and transform you into an elite fighting unit. All you have to swear your allegiance to me. Fight by my side and follow the orders of the fiends. In exchange, I'll make you a Force to be reckoned with. So powerful, even the Warriors will fear you!
Goblin: YESSSS. Give us that! We fight for you now!
Dark Ruler: Then kneel before me, Goblin Attack Force. No longer will the Warriors, or anyone else for that matter, bully my fellow goblins. You will gain power unlike any you've ever seen. Let a declaration go out along the land. The Goblin Attack Force is no more! Take your armor and rise, my GOBLIN ELITE ATTACK FORCE!!![/i]
OK, maybe that was a little too much, but 1500DEF is not bad at all. D.D. Warrior LAdy has to remove the GEAF from play to kill them, something she could easily avoid when they were the GAF or when she battles Giant Orc.
None of that "Tsukuyomi-flip-face-down-attack-and-destroy" junk going around.
Of course, Giant Orc shouldn't be abandoned so easily. He has a Union monster that can help him remain in attack position. He's also Dark, so if you run a Chaos/Fiend Hybrid or Deck Devastation Virus, Giant Orc is definitely the better choice. And due to their high Defense, GEAF is harder to get to the graveyard that Orc and is therefore poorer Necrofood than Giant Orc who just looks too easy to pass up with 0 DEF.
Since I stopped running DDV, I opted with GEAF. I love these guys because I can prove that NONE is past corruption.
Next on the list: Freed The Macthless General! That effect is great and the fiends could use it MUCH better than Warriors.

Run a few of these as well! Keep your Night Assailants handy! And you won't lose that much hand AND still get to normal summon that turn. Care to convert a Great Maju Garzett into an uber beatstick (other than my 5K Giant Kozaky morph 8^D) and we will be rolling! Too much fiendish fun! My brain is collapsing all over again!
I agree that DDV has its place in certain decks. However, the recent release of Cybernetic Magician makes ALL of your dark fiends eligible. Bring out Jeroid, lower your opponents attack, use Cybernetic to boost him, DDV for the massacre. I'll be throwing one of these guys (once I can get it) into my Infection deck to exploit this more 8^D
